I've been a regular customer at this resturuant for sometime now, and last night my wife and I thought we'd treat ourselves to a night out for dinner. We both ordered off the menu and also ordered a glass of juice each. The juice was delivered by our waiter. We couldn't help notice that large amount of ice in this glass vs the juice content. I ordered another glass but this time kindly asked the waiter for no ice. I was rather dissapointed to see when I ordered the second glass of juice with no ice, it was served to me1/2 full. Looking the waiter when she delivered the glass to me (the waiter who has the short hair - as I believe she is the owner of the resturant) and kindly asking her why the half glass, her response was " I am not charging you for a full glass because you asked for no ice". I thought it was a joke at first, but she was dead set serious. The last time I checked when you order a drink you pay for a drink to the top of the glass. She begged to differ otherwise and made no apology for it. Infact rather than just topping the glass up, she was more content for me writing a negative review as I made it clear to her that that this looks very unprofessional on her behalf. Plenty of other Thai restaurants in my area that are very accommodating. Never to go here again. You've lost my business.
And by the way Ya Jinda, don't write back stating that this isn't true as I have no reason to lie over 1/2 cup of juice. Absolutely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDined at Ya Jinda for lunch today, our 2nd visit there. Some dishes are better than others, Soft Shell Crab, Pad See Ewe Beef, Tom Yum Soup are fantastic. Boat noodles is average size and over priced.
The Service is definitely below par, on both occassions. They have 3 wait staff for the whole restaurant. When you try to flag the waitress down for something, it will be at least 5 mins before you get them. They are trained not to look at customers, deliver food / drink and go back. We ordered 2 drinks but 3 drinks arrived, so we sent the extra drink back. The bill had 3 drinks on it but they removed it after we told them.
There is a rear entrance to the restaurant which was open when we arrived and came it that way as it was raining today. After we paid the bill and was about to leave, the staff said we must leave through the front door only, not allowed to use rear entrance, despite the rainy weather. They had locked the gate at the rear, when we went to use the toilet which is situated at the rear of the restaurant. This left a negative experience to us, as she was rude and didnt give us an explanation why we could exit through the rear. The first time we ate there 2 months ago, customers were coming and going through the rear entrance without an issue. Not going back there again because of their bad service.
The Service and food at Abbotsford branch is much better in my opinion, dined there many times...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had dinner at Ya jinda with a large group and were frustrated with the service that seemed to prioritise all takeaway orders over its diners despite the fact our party were recognised regulars who even order special dishes off menu. Regardless I do find the food incredibly tasty hence we continue to return
Latest Back to Ya Jinda for a birthday lunch and finally tried the pad Thai which was really yummy. Service was much faster of a lunchtime than dinner which was a good learning, in future we will avoid the later dining slot as the food takes forever
Update We got Ya Jinda delivered and I ordered the pad see ew and found it more peppery than traditional but really delicious. Coconut rice was flavoursome also and not the faint hint of coconut you can sometimes experience when ordering this dish
Original review We visited Ya Jinda which had pleasantly styled interiors and was certainly bustling, the service was quite lacklustre though. No one seemed remotely concerned with taking our order even when we flagged people down they acknowledged they had seen us but took their time coming over which was quite odd.
Food wise though I was impressed. Loved the chicken satay platter and the chicken cashew nut was a different rendition to what you usually see with that classic dish but it was enjoyed so immensely a second...
