Dulcie's Cottage — Restaurant in Merimbula

This place is a really cute restaurant with great outdoor sitting. You can enjoy some great drinks indoor or mostly outdoor. Simple food menu provides tasty burgers.

I really enjoy being able to enjoy Yullu's Amanda IPA and their tasty American style burgers. They're Oceanview seats are the best. The place can be booked out, so I highly recommend reserving a seat.

This still one my favourite dining out place nearby. I really like the Yuli's Mandarin IPA, but the establishment stopped sourcing it. So please bring it back.

I really like this place but I am quite puzzled.

We had two friends visiting from Melbourne. It was a nice night. We meet up at 6:35.

We got some drinks and ordered food. Our friends put their order from the qr code (19:14). I had some for issues and placed my order at 19:18. As usual, fifteen minutes in my order arrived. We were a bit puzzled to not receive our friends order(19:30). Then we realised everyone who would come up to the bar would get their meals. Our friends were still waiting. Around 19:45 my friend reminded the server and the response was "five minutes mate."

All good. And then we watched some returned orders and replacement go through. We went to check and got a cold response saying we shouldn't be surprised to wait for forty minutes for a burger.

At 2000 pm a server brought our meal and we were expected a polite thank you for waiting or an apology, but nothing. While eating we realised that was the last meal of the day and every other table has received their meal

I am conflicted. This is a place I visit regularly and now I am conflicted. An apology would have...

My partner and I had just arrived and spoken to the waitress about getting a table. I needed to go to the bathroom so he and I went inside and I went in. Meanwhile, he went to wait out the back as to not take any seats yet. While he was making his way, the staff told him off passive aggressively like he was a child/drunk and asked to come back because he was entering a no service zone. He apologised and then sat down on the chair outside the bathroom to wait for me but the three staff members kept talking amongst themselves and looking back to stare at him.

It seems that this is the kind of place where only locals eat and outsiders are not treated very well. My partner told me what happened when I exited the bathroom and I was disappointed that he had been marginalised in this way. We left right after because it was uncomfortable.

Otherwise the drinks menu looked good as was the music, but if you’re looking for value for food, you should go elsewhere.

I hope they improve by making customers feel more welcome by understanding and treating them like adults. It would be nice if they could keep their gossip away from the customers too. As others have said, it is a locals stronghold and the staff have a history of sometimes prioritising conversing between each other over customer service. I think they would greatly benefit by rectifying this...

Went to Dulcies for the first time tonight, having heard great things. The front, outside dining area had a great vibe, whilst the inside decor was very nice. The girl at ‘front of house’ was great. We were seated in the ‘Arthurs’ area on the grass in the backyard.

The place was very busy and we were advised that, as a result, our orders might take, “…..up to an hour. Having said that…”, she said, “…the times are getting shorter so it might be quicker, maybe half an hour.”

We ordered 3 burgers (2 x Dulcies burgers and 1 x Chicken burger) at 7:35 pm. Prices of the burgers were reasonable at $22 each.

I went to the bar at 8:45 (1hour and 10 minutes) to check on our order. The young lass behind the bar was very friendly and said that she would check with the kitchen and come to our table to let us know. She arrived a short time later and told us that our burgers would be about 20 minutes more, “we weren’t expecting such a big crowd tonight and we only have 3 chefs in the kitchen.” The burgers arrived at 9:15.

I understand that it was unexpectedly busy but we booked a table for 7:15pm and didn’t get our meal until 9:15. I think it is very poor service to seat as many people as they did without the capability of serving the paying customers within a reasonable time.
