Umi-Ko Izakaya — Restaurant in Merimbula

I enjoyed the food. I have a family member who lives in Merimbula and raves about the spot.

While I thought the food was tasty, I had issues with a few of the dishes.

1. getting a Katsu Curry and only receiving half a cutlet is ridiculous. Never had that before. Image attacked. The curry was tasty though

2. the black garlic tonkotsu was salty, however the normal tonkotsu and the spicy version were not. So maybe one of the toppings was a bit too salty. We had two bowls of the garlic tonkotsu and both individuals said they were salty.

3. the ramens had different amount of Chashu. 3 of the bowls we had, had only 1 piece, while a different bowl (the spicy one) had 2. That seems very little.

Personally I probably wouldn’t return unless the above changes over time. Value...

I had the pleasure of visiting Umi-Ko recently, and I was beyond excited to give it a try — it certainly did not disappoint! The chicken ramen was absolutely delicious, with rich, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles. It's clear why Umi-Ko is always so busy — the food is just that good!

Despite the restaurant being packed, the staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed without feeling rushed. It’s evident they really care about their customers, even when they're at full capacity.

Not to mention, the prices are very reasonable for the quality and experience. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable meal. Umi-Ko has definitely exceeded my...

Umi-ko Japanese - What a find! Had an amazing dinner there Saturday night and we will definitely be returning! The restaurant atmosphere was amazing, the staff attentive and efficient, and the food, excellent! We started with a Pina Colada cocktail which was so good, we had to get another. Then we enjoyed the Tempura Tuna, the Scorched Salmon roll, Japanese Pancake, Karage Chicken, Tuna Mayo with seaweed crackers, and finally the Chicken Ramen, OMG yum - every dish was 10 out of 10! I am not usually fussed with Japanese food but am now totally converted - this food was absolutely delicious and a fabulous find in Merimbula....
