Zambrero Mittagong — Restaurant in Mittagong

This is a good clean store and the food is fresh, plentiful, and reasonably priced. But there are some basic misses here that would be EASY to rectify and I don't understand why they don't.

Full disclosure: I lived in Texas for 15 years so I know what decent Mexican and Tex Mex tastes like. And every Australian I have ever introduced to that kind of food has raved about it. So it would make sense to give it to them here too, which makes the decision not to even more non-understandable.

Miss #1: No fresh cilantro/coriander. There is NO possible explanation I can think of not to offer fresh cilantro/coriander as an option with your meal. It's so integral to the authentic taste but there was none to be seen anywhere.

Miss #2: No pico de gallo They had chopped tomatoes and onion, and fresh lime, so there are a couple of the components. But no fresh jalapeno, as mentioned above, no cilantro/coriander, and not in the right proportions. Add pico to the options!

Miss #3: No charred corn/elotes Mexican street corn is divine. You don't have to go to the whole hog with the cotija cheese and spices (though that would be fun) but at least put a decent char on the corn!

Those are the main points. I think there should have been fresh chopped jalapeno in addition to pickled, and a few other choices, but I understand that not everything can be offered (even though it would lift the menu to the...

Today when visiting the store to purchase a burrito we were greated with an eyeroll from one member of staff whilst the other walked over to serve us. When ordering, the lady serving was very unwelcoming and impolite, acting disgusted that we had walked into the store at 8:30pm which is still in their opening hours. When it came to pay I asked for my loyalty card to be stamped (as it has been the past 8 times at various stores throughout NSW and ACT) and was accused of it being “fake” and after ID being seen (for some unknown reason), it was confiscated. The two young girls proceeded to laugh with eachother as we left the store shocked and very unhappy with the experience. I have shopped at many zambrero stores and am a regular customer but will not be returning...

Had a terrible experience beggining with an eye roll from both young girls as we through the door at 8:30 tonight. Both staff were very unfriendly and instead of greeting us or asking what we would like we just got glared at from the front door to the counter. When completing the order, our loyalty card was confiscated and we were accused of it being fake after using it at various different stores in NSW and ACT. Also asked for Identification for some strange reason and then laughed at as we left the store confused with the situation.
