We dined here during our recent trip to Echuca on Good Friday dinner. I liked one of their fish dish. During dining there, the shop owners kept checking with us if the food was good. I did mention the fish was very tasty. One of the owner who was half Thai said the restaurant was family owned and I think she said her brother was the chef. 2 days later on Easter Sunday we decided to dine there again to eat the fish. I called the restaurant and one of the staff said they were fully booked and no table was available. Then I asked if I can do take away as I was only living 4km away from the restaurant. She said yes and when I asked for the fish she said they don’t do take away for the fish. I was surprised. I asked to speak to the owner and a man picked up the call. I told him what my intention was he said the same that the fish dish is not available for take away. I asked him why and he said that’s just how it is as they don’t do it. I understand that they would have been busy that night but I was a repeating customer who wanted to have your food again and all said he was he can’t help me and hanged up.
Then my husband reminded me that the Thai owner who we were speaking to on Good Friday night did mention she can do take away for us when I told her the dish was tasty and I wish I can eat it again. Since I have a young baby who sleeps early and the restaurant only opens for dinner she offered me take away in future if I wanted. So I called the restaurant again to speak to the Thai lady owner. Again the guy owner picked up. I told him I’m the one called earlier about the fish and before I could finish my sentence, he said “I no longer wish to be annoyed!” and hanged up the call! I was in shock! Never in my entire life any restaurant owner have spoke to me in that manner. I’ve travelled to over 30 countries and dined in thousands of restaurants. Many times in the past I’ve dined and liked a dish in the restaurant. The restaurants has always catered regardless of how busy they were as they appreciate returning customers liking their dishes. If they didn’t have table they always offered take away. That’s the same I asked to River Thai. The guy owner didn’t only deny me take away but was extremely rude! When I told that to my husband he was so upset. He wanted to go straight to the restaurant and approach the guy owner for being so mannerless but I just told him not to as we shouldn’t forget our manners just because others don’t have any.
We decided we will never dine here or recommend this place to family and friends. The Thai owner was a very sweet lady. She was chatting away with us the night we dined in. But unfortunately the guy owner has no ethics to speak to a customer. A restaurant can serve the most tastiest food but if your customer service sucks then it’s just a failure. You have just...
Read moreThis was best prawn Penang curry I’ve had since I can remember. Fresh prawns, simple, tasty and perfect portion size. Comes with a generous amount of good sized prawns and beans. Coconut rice was/is always delicious. Service was very very good. Our waitresses were very attentive, friendly and efficient. The food came quickly and all very close in time so no one was waiting. Would 100% go back again. Sadly I didn’t take a picture of the food cos I was hungry! Friends got the lamb massaman, vego massaman and the chicken Pham thai and said all of them were DELICIOUS!! Highly recommended!! Atmosphere is like your average Thai restaurants, quiet. Ample...
Read moreHad a great experience dining at this Thai restaurant. The food was the standout — both the red curry and green curry were absolutely delicious, packed with flavour and just the right amount of heat. You could tell the ingredients were fresh and well-prepared.
The service was friendly and attentive throughout, which made the meal even more enjoyable.
The only thing that felt a bit out of place was the decor. The red walls and lanterns gave off more of an old-school vibe — perhaps a little dated and not quite matching the Thai theme. But if you’re there for the food (and you should be), that’s a small detail.
Would definitely come back for...
