Great food with a few operational kinks that affects service quality. We got the chicken sambo ($18) and Maryland ($16) to takeaway. Hot was killer! So spicy but delicious and the sambo is huge with lots of flavour on an amazing bun. Luckily we went at a time where there was no line, 4.15pm on Saturday afternoon so missed the lunch rush and got in before dinner lines grew.
They said wait on food was 30 mins - we waited about 45. As we waited we noticed that fries appear to be bulk cooked and then sit there for a while until chicken is prepared. When a few boxes were put in the takeaway bag along with fries that had been sitting out for a quite a while - we went up to the counter as it appeared to be ready.
We went up to a group of three wait staff who were chatting to each other by the service counter. Two dispersed quickly and one told us that our food wasn’t ready yet.
After some time (approx 10 mins), the waiter asked the kitchen a question about our order only to be told that it had been ready the whole time.
While portion sizes are fantastic and justify the price, it would be of benefit for staff to be more attentive and work out a system that allows them to be efficient and responsive to the high number of orders. We also recommend asking for fresh fries when your order (and not from the big bowl they make) as ours were cold and chewy after sitting out for a long time before being boxed. It didn’t help that the wait staff let the food sit on the service counter to chat and draw pictures on the boxes and bag when it was ready to go for a whole 10 minutes.
We did love the food and look forward...
Read moreYou’d have to have been living under a rock not to have heard of Draskos in Mount Hawthorn! It is one of the few places in Perth that you’ll always find a queue, which is why, although it is local to me, I had not yet tried it. So I was excited last night at 5.30 when I walked past on my way to get dinner somewhere else and noticed nobody in there. I quickly took my opportunity to find out why this place is usually packed with customers. I was greeted by the friendliest counter staff I’ve come across in a long time. We had a great banter while my parents and I chose from the menu. He helped me choose the right heat for a first timer (no one wants to end up on the toilet for 5 hours passing the spawn of Satan🥵) I chose the signature Sando meal. We then sat down and waited for our meal. We waited a while and I watched people come and go, picking up their orders. It was at that time I noticed the picture on the wall which looked just like our humble server. Turns out that’s Drasko!! Wow!! It was lovely to realise that the friendly server was actually the owner!! This is what you look for in a restaurant! Passion in customer service that is often missing in other restaurants. I decided then, that I’d probably come back here even if the food was shite, just for the banter. The food came, and it was most definitely not shite!! The serving size was large which was good considering the price and the taste was Amazing! I ate it all even though I was full half way through. I shall definitely be coming back to Draskos to try a heat level up. I might even queue up for it....
Read moreWoah these burgers are hot and I didn’t even have the hottest! Tucked away on the bottom corner of the Mezz shopping center where Dome use to be, this little shop is an experience! Plenty of seating and staff are super friendly and helpful. With the Restauraut being new, there is still a bit of a wait, but it’s not bad. Their menu is not extensive, with only One chicken signature burger with option of normal bun or Gluten free. A waffle option, which is on its way. The other items are chicken pieces, wings quarter chicken, tenders and a few sides of chips, salads etc. They also have options for kids. One big plus on their menu for me is their use of free range and organic produce, sourced locally from the swan valley, More places should do this! But the main draw card to their menu is their sliding Chilli heat scale from zero to insanely hot! 🥵 Prices are reasonable considering the organic produce.
We order 3 sigutures, a little one, wo wings and chips. I had the hot and wife and eldest had the mild. The burger for my wife and I was ok, they are large, the chicken is plump and juicy and the slaw works well, it was good but didn’t blow us away. My eldest really enjoyed her burger and youngest enjoyed her tenders and chips. Be warned their hot is super hot, even for me! I dare not try the Blame Drasko! Drakso’s will be a subjective experience for everyone, for me it was ok, I’ve had better chicken burgers. It’s a great place to go with friends for the...
