Ankara Kebabs and Bakery — Restaurant in Mount Lawley

Used to be the 100% absolute best kebabs in Perth, they were sooooo bloody tasty & a really good sized kebab that filled you up & made you want to travel from miles away to get there if in need of an awesome kebab. Before, you could just taste the Love in every delicious bite! Oh & their Pide & fresh/hot turkish bread also used to be the stuff of legends..mmmm yummo!. Ok, so yes, once I was previously a loyal customer, had eebn coming here for last 25 years in fact.. But now? Well I'm so sad to say that the last time we ordered a couple of kebabs they were such a humungus disappointment, in so many ways! Firstly the guys making them looked they could care less & shoved the sad little kebabs at us. & these kebabs were oh so tiny & tasted...well kinda just sad. It took about 6 bites & they were gone, not like the old wonderful big yummy ones we were served. So of course, this experience put us off entirely. Haven't been back since (& not sure we ever will be ...no matter how late & if it's the only place still open). Wouldn't do it, not unless they plan a return to something like they used to be once 'upon a time, in the world of ye ol yummy kebab stores'.. but such as it stands, wow, such a loss to the old Glory days of what was Ankara Kebabs. And so, a message to Ankara...please put the Love back in the food?! We really miss...

They received 1 star as i could not put 0. I ordered a meatbox off ubereats. The sauces were completely wrong not a single one was what i ordered. Uber eats could not help me as the restaurant was at fault. i called them and asked them how they could compensate for the mistake. The man told me that he would make another and send it my way. I waited 40 minutes before calling again as i live atleast 15 minutes away. When i called again the man didn’t understand a single thing i said and i had to explain everything again, when he told me that he could not do anything to help me. i then asked for a refund to which he told me he could not do as he didn’t know how. i don’t know why he wouldn’t know how to simply refund an order at the store he works at. either the staff is shockingly undertrained or he did not want to refund the order. So basically i was stuck with a meatbox i could not eat, and i waited around for 40 minutes just to be told he could not do anything for the mistake he made. Then he told me to order again on UE, i don’t know why he thinks i would pay twice just to risk the same thing happening again. i ended up ordering off LITTLE LEBANON CAFE in osborne park. their service, food, portions and prices are amazing. if you are reading this go to little lebanon, do not waste...

Their kebabs are a bit hit and miss - sometimes good, but other times light on the sauces or too much lettuce (sort of 'padding it out'). It seems to be related to when they are busy: more-busy = less good (i.e. around dinner and also about 11pm as people leave the pub next door). Update on 10 Oct 2025: they have definitely gone further downhill since my mid-2024 review, 'less hit, more miss'. The last few kebabs I have ordered haven't been very good, their tabouli in particular is padded out with carrots and capsicum, so is no longer authentic. Once I got hardly any sauce in my kebab, and the only time I ordered a gozleme I decided that would be the last time. I only go there now if I need a late feed and the other better kebab shop nearby (Medya) is closed. I think Ankara Kebabs get enough walk-in once-off (and drunk) customers from the pub next door that they don't really care...
