Nazzar really is a hidden gem in Perth when it comes to Middle Eastern cuisine. An unassuming look from the outside, great experience once you're in. We honestly didn't expect much to begin with. For 2 people for dinner, we ordered sticky lamb ribs, grilled chicken skewers, charred cabbage & finished with a coconut malabi, plus drinks, and we were full before dessert arrived. Sticky lamb ribs with date molasses $26: Solid 8.5/10. Decent portion, not as fatty as many other places, the skin was fantastic, the meat was so tender but you can still enjoy chewing it. With this price, there wasn't any complaint at all. Zaffarani chicken skewers $30: Big skewers, meat wasn't dry, tasted great. 8/10. It is pricier than the normal chicken skewers. Charred cabbage & herb salad: 9 out of 10. The only improvement here could be the parsley to be chopped a bit smaller, that's it. I love it. It wasn't your regular oily cabbage. Coconut malabi, sumac strawberries, rose & pistachio crumble $16: 9.5 out of 10. Creamier but thicker than a panna cotta. It wasn't too sweet, just enough to finish the night. The strawberry compote and the crumble gave a nice texture, so overall, it deserves a 9.5. Service: 10/10. The waitress was really nice and attentive.
The only thing to be improved is the knife choice for mains. As tender as the meat was, it took a little effort to cut through the skin with that knife. I think it's better for fish and chicken, but not...
Read moreLoved the food. really enjoyed the middle eastern flavor in my egg dish. I ordered chorizo on side so it made it perfectly complete for me.That was extra $9 . Its pricey. The bread served with the dish invites you to use fingers rather the cutlery and I loved that the most . Took me back to time and place from the past. Coffee was good - they also serve booze with food like the place up the road so, that's a plus ( for those who care about that) Service was good, no issues. waiting time was little, but food was fresh and hot. As a local they have become my #1 spot for that whole brunch period. Few things I disliked : ordering methods , not accepting cash and mostly of it all the way they set up the seating arrangements inside. The booths on toucan wall are on point. But That long bench with flower cushions is the worst. using the cushion provided, makes it less comfortable. AND 50% of people sitting on that side have their back to the window. Why would you do that to them LOL ? just put 4x tables that you can split into two and that way you can seat 12 ppl there that all can have the view of the street. Use that horrible bench for more flower pots and make it more tropical/jungle. That would also kill the sound bouncing around all that shine new interior. rant over lol . p.s. Or just sit outside. Also pet friendly...
Read moreA group of us visited for Nazzar’s bottomless lunch on a Sunday.
The service was a little haphazard - they gave us regular cafe menus and needed to be told we were having the bottomless menu. We were asked to pay up front at the counter and then staff were confused when not all of us had finished paying just yet! Plates and glasses came out bit by bit. However, service was always friendly and they were fairly attentive in asking if we wanted a next round of drinks.
The bottomless menu is share-style - each dish comes out one at a time (luckily too as our table was full of plates and glasses!) but in the end it doesn’t amount to very much food per person. Individually, we had about three small pieces of flatbread and hummus, a piece of cauliflower, two strips of haloumi, two small pieces of fried chicken and a serve of warm potato salad. While all delicious, it wasn’t especially filling. Perhaps refills on pita and hummus could be a way to fill diners up? At $75 for the alcohol option, it felt a little light on food-wise.
The kitchen were very accomodating to dietaries and the whole bottomless menu is gluten free (except the bread, which was replaced with gf bread).
A lot to like, but some room for...
