New Place Japanese Kitchen — Restaurant in Mount Lawley

Nice little place tucked right in a local shopping area. Street parking is free and limited parking at the front of the shop. This place get a lot of take away. We thought we gave it a go since it next to our dental clinic. Service was friendly and fast. However it one of the few Japanese place I been that did not provide wasabi or ginger with sushi ordered. The katsu set was decent size for the price we paid, the miso soup came with the set was very plain, however the katsu chicken was moist and tender.

The signature katsu chicken don with egg was disappointing, I thought it was plain and the chicken was over cooked.

Overall it was a mixed feeling for this dinning experience, when they get the katsu chicken right, it is very good but when they get it wrong...

Decent prices, filling portions. The teriyaki fish was a bit too salty, and the tempura didn’t have much variety. It also didn’t use the traditional tempura batter, and the prawn tempuras seemed as if they were frozen. The udon soup tasted more like ramen but it was quite distinct and tasty. The golden buns were delicious, warm, crispy and paired well with the condensed milk. Definitely not as good as previous years when I’ve been, but still a nice meal.

Ehh in my opinion its nothing that special i got the fish katsu and fish teriyaki, its not that terrible but both are tastless,boring and has silly mistakes like fish katsue being over coated and fried to a point where its rock hard the sauce for it tho was not terrible and the basic mistake of blend soggy fish teriyaki, japanse mash potatoes also just taste like plain boiled potatoes, there are other places in perth who do it better, although your sushi was great and miso was good 👍
