Dined off the dinner menu in March 2024, and the food was very good portion size was reasonable, the steak was cooked spot on medium, with lovely fresh veggies, the second meal a chicken snitzy was huge and delicious. The cheese garlic bread was soft and melted in your mouth, yum! Service was good considering the Bistro was fully booked so a big thumbs up to the Chef and the kitchen and service staff! The place was packed at 7pm and Kate was able to squeeze us in with a table outside which was great, so it’s to best to book a table in advance. It’s a little noisey inside when full of patrons so there are outside tables available with great ocean and park views. Follow up visit: We returned the next day for lunch and the Nambucca Reef Jewfish was fantastic lightly battered the fish was soft, juicy and melted in your mouth, the flavour was perfect and it was served with a salad and chips. A squeeze of fresh lemon was all that was required. A another delicious visit can’t wait to eat here again when I’m next in town.

As soon as I saw they had Nambucca Oysters and I could watch the sunset over the Nambucca River with a nice bottle of wine, I knew this was the place for dinner :) What a gem of a restaurant serving quality food, especially seafood which we started with the Nambucca Oysters of course, they were small and sweet, perfect and fresh. Went the Cheesy Garlic bread, probably too much for us as we saved ourselves for the Beer Battered local Nambuca Reef Snapper, possibly would have preferred it grilled but we thought about that afterwards. Really enjoyed it but wasn't so sure about the watermelon side, that's a first. They have a good selection of beers and wine to choose from at reasonable prices. The only negative really was we had booked a table and they wanted to sit us quite out of the way with no view, we sat at a high table instead that wasn't booked which soon sorted that. Can't recommend this place high enough if you are staying in the area.

I love that the kitchen focuses on fresh local fish & seafood. We were staying overnight not far away, and this place came highly recommended. A short easy walk. We arrived on Friday night, and it was very busy. It didn't take long for it to quiet down. It appeared, the locals ate and then leave. So we enjoyed a relaxing meal. We loved out beer battered Flathead and Flash fried jewfish. We shared the calamari entree. Very soft and tender! The view during the day is spectacular! I would highly recommend this place for lunch. We did find the meals a bit pricey. The queue to order your meal was long too. But was well worth it for fresh seafood. The only other downside was the lack of tables as most were reserved that night. We found a seat eventually near the pool table.

We came today 27/12/2024 for a small coffee break. As a big group we have chosen 3 tables in the very back so we will not disturb anyone and the place was not full. Behind our place is only 3 more tables no one is using. We do not want to use so many chairs so it will not disturb the setting of the place. Some of us decide to stand in stead of dragging chairs from other tables. After a while, a staff came and ask us to not to stand in a way that could cause other guests difficulties to walk around. The unhappy issue here is that we have tried our best to move to the very back, not using chairs to change the setting and move when someone needs to walk toward us, even thou there is nothing much further after our tables except the last back 3 empty tables. Nevertheless, we have been asked in a way that we feel we were not customers or the kind of customers should be served like other customers. Or is it because we are the only Asian there? Is that hospitality in this place. Not what we were trained in Europe thou. Anyway, we felt not welcome and left quickly without any words or making scene. Nambucca Head is a nice place and we plan to move here for holiday house but not this cafe.

P/S: Your reply to us is very predictable, very understand that with such pride to run a business , fortunate in location, you wont take in. Kinda hope you can train your staff to approach customer in a better way to avoid misunderstanding in the future, which is the core issue to create such...

unfortunately very disappointed by the customer service. After ordering my food I was asking for the price of the cocktails. I was asked for my ID and I said I was gonna get it from my car and asked what to do with my buzzer as I already ordered food. The waitress asked me then (after I already said I was gonna get it from the car and she saw my keys) if I was 18. I told her I was 27 and she then asked me if I was accompanied by an adult. I find that incredibly rude, I told her again I was 27 years old and she said it was illegal to not have my ID on me. I was getting really upset about her attitude and how rude I was treated and then told her again I was gonna go to my car to get my ID and I literally parked in front of the restaurant. After showing my ID I was served alcohol. I understand staff have to ask everyone who looks young, not an issue at all but to talk so rude to me after I already said I was gonna get my ID is just terrible customer service. I saw the same waitress cleaning up all the tables around me but she didn't clean up my table after I finished my meal. I think that's highly unprofessional and left me very upset after I just came to enjoy a meal and a drink on my own. Otherwise the food was...

Rude Staff, will never come back here. Arrived after a long drive and in need of lunch esp with 3 hungry kids. First we were told by the barman that their kitchen was closed (we were 30mins too late) & directed us to a cafe 10mins drive away. Went next door to the ATTACHED cafe - that was OPEN and they were so lovely and accomodating there even telling us we can take our food next door into V Wall and have a drink. So we went back to VWall and didn’t even make it to the bar to order drinks before being told our kids (who were playing with the pool table located adjacently to the bar and for which we were in direct supervision of, that they were not allowed there or to play on the pool table. So needless to say, we felt completely unwelcome, not even been given more than 30seconds to order a drink and sit at the outside tables. We are glad we didn’t give this place any of our money and we definitely will not be back to Nambucca. This experience soured our stop here and we won’t be returning to Nambucca again. What a shame for the town because of these rude...
