Wild Terra Bakery — Restaurant in Nambucca Heads

Wild Terra Bakery – Nambucca Heads NSW I was listening to ABC radio Mid North Coast last week and they were talking about the supposed decline in pie sales. I actually think that decline does not include bakery pies just supermarket bought. Anyway, one of the callers said that the best pie they have had was from Wild Terra Bakery Nambucca Heads. It just so happens that I was going past Nambucca heads the next day so I thought I would give them a try. I grabbed a Creamy Chicken pie and a Cheese and Bacon pie. I had not long had breakfast, so I threw them in the fridge to heat up later. A couple of hours later I threw them in the pie warmer (I travel prepared) and had them for lunch. Both these pies were excellent! The warmer does seem to make the pastry a bit soggy but these were still good. The pastry was buttery, flaky and just the right thickness. The flavour was unique and I think it may be made in house and not store bought sheets. The creamy chicken pie was large at around 270 grams. The filling was one of the best chicken pies I have had for a while, on a par with Gumtree Pies Wodonga. This pie is a solid 8.5/10 The bacon and cheese was quite a bit smaller at just over 200 grams but at about $6.00 a pie, still good value. This pie was a good percentage of cubed bacon and tasty cheese. The mince and gravy was nicely done. The nicest looking bakery on the high street so worth a visit. Thy also serve coffee with a barisita machine but I didn't hold much hope of a bad decent coffee that I got flavoured milk. Bread looked and smelled great. Not a particularly big selection with sweet pastries - I grabbed a lamington. However the prices! Really expensive (worse than Sydney prices.) As you're pretty limited in Nambucca, this would be the pick of the crop, but sad to say Woolies bakery down the road would give you more...
