Avoca Beach House — Restaurant in New South Wales

Cool venue with heaps of potential, unfortunately run by absolute muppets. Unadvertised corriander as a main ingredient in my dish meant that I couldn’t eat half of it. $35 for a tiny piece of barramundi. Went to pay my $120 bill and the owner let me know that the payment didn’t clear. I checked my bank and showed him that the payment had been cleared from my account. He continued to argue with me until I paid the $120 bill again. He told me to call back in 24 hours if the money was not back in my account. I called back 24 hours later and had to fight with the owner once again to get him to refund the first $120 back to me. No real apology. Was asked to provide proof a week later that I wasn’t refunded the money twice, which I did, and I let the owner know that I was unhappy with how I had been treated in the ordeal with no real apology, to which he fed me a bunch of weird excuses and offered for me to call the point of sale company to complain to them. Just had a lovely dinner with friends, the service was excellent as was the food! The owners who were working the floor told us that they had only been operating for 3 months, very impressive considering the Covid restrictions they would have endured. The staff were all practicing excellent Covid safe guidelines. The menu was a combination of modern Australian with a little Thai and seafood. Food was expensive and below average. The reason this got a 1 star isnt even that. It got a one star for service. Got asked 4 times during our meal if we were done about 10 minutes into the meal and legitimately 2 mins apart by the same waiter. Didn't get any water that requested during the meal.
