Was visiting town to see my father at Wingham hospital. There are a couple of options in the main street with regards to little cafes. We walked up and down and decided on Bent on Food. We were greeted at the door and said we could pick anywhere to sit. Ordering is table side. They have a QR code on the table that you can look at the menu through on your phone or they have laminated ones you can look at. Wish I had a laminated one as it wasn't the easiest to use on the phone.
First off we got some table water and 2 glasses that were dirty.
We then ordered the a kids Bent-On-Box and the Gado Gado salad with poached chicken. Lets just say the menu description did not match what we received.
My daughters meal consisted of half a ham and cheese sandwich (more bread than anything else & slice of ham was thinner than the cheese slice), half a box of mixed lettuce, ribbons of carrot, a couple of slices of cucumber, a couple of strawberries chopped up (that looked close to the edge of inedible) , a sauce container with yoghurt and honey and a drink. Menu said it was an assortment of fruits and vegetables and yoghurt. Lets just say my daughter left hungry.
Now for my Gado Gado salad. Again it did not hit the table as per the description and was far from the mark, was also missing items which was not told to me when I ordered.
All in all not a lovely experience and will not be returning. I did mention my concerns when paying and was not charged for my daughters meal, but I feel that my comments may not be taken on board by the...

We chose to sit at a table out in the garden and it was super chilled. I'm always a little bit cautious about grabbing a table where we might be "out of sight and out of mind". But they are using the ME&U (QR code order-pay at table) system really well.
The drinks were brought to us within 5 minutes and the coffee was above-average.
The food arrived ~5 minutes later by another cheery staff member. Unfortunately, I started wishing that the kitchen staff had slowed down and bit more time had been spent on preparing the food.
I went with the "Bent Burger" which looked fantastic. The accompanying chips were hot, crunchy and well-salted. But the main event featured a woefully undercooked and underseasoned beef patty. It was quite unpleasant and I only ate half of the patty before removing the remainder.
My wife's "Asian Peanut Crunch Salad" also looked fresh and inviting, but lacked any distinctly Asian flavours and was...
Read moreAttended this establishment today whilst passing through for breakfast, I have visited this cafe in the past and found it to be exceptional. So we came again with high expectations, unfortunately to our dismay we encountered the opposite of what we were hoping for. Unhappy staff with sour faces. Obvious attitudes and a lack of care all together. We went ahead and put in our coffee and breakfast order, which seemed like such a burden for the staff. We stayed as we thought they were just having a moment and wanted to allow the chance for them to improve our experience. Unfortunately the rest of our time there was not met with any success. We did not enjoy our experience or food and felt to intimidated by our experience to bring this to the appropriate attention.
We visited a few more shops in wingham today and in passing discovered the cafe had changed hands recently and was now under new ownership, and that the locals were feeling the change and were becoming disappointed. It’s such a shame as our memories of this cafe were always of excellence. Hopefully one day we shall return to find these issues resolved. This place seems to be very dear to...
