Hubby hadn't been to the new renovation, so under sufferance I decided to give it another go.
It seems the menu has been updated with more vegan and vegetarian options. We ended up trying the Classic beef burger (it was available this time) and the Argentenian Beef Roll.
The burger was OK! Very basic and a good sauce would of taken it up another level. If you want a simple burger, this is perfect The stand out was the Argentinian Beef Roll. A crunchy roll filled with slices of medium rare cook rump topped with a Spicy herb salsa. Great flavours and went superbly with a beer.
This renovation has great atmosphere and love the different seating areas.
A great place to meet up with friends and relax, just a pity the rest of Gosford CBD doesn't compliment.
It does get noisy but show me a pub that doesn't!
Increased my rating from 2 to 4 stars
1st review! Had heard great reviews of the pub since completion of the new renovations, so we decided to come for lunch.
I was disappointed with them menu options. Don't get me wrong, lots of choices, but nothing healthy and light, We both commented we would of loved grilled salmon or Barra with a salad. They only offered battered fish and chips.
After much deliberation and no "healthier" options I decided to order the Korean Chicken burger. As I I arrived at the counter to order I thr head chef say that burgers are no longer were available. This is at 12.15pm on a Monday just before the lunch rush has even truly started.
I advised them I felt the menu had not offer healthy/light options for lunch with it being deep-fried or fried in butters and creams. I was offered the Citrus salad and I asked if I could add grilled chicken to the salad (which was possibleš ). It was very tasty and I enjoyed it. It's just pity it wasnt on the menu.
My friend ordered the last beef burger (before it was no longer available). Her beef patty was undercooked to her liking. If the menu had been mentioned how the beef patty was cooked (medium rare), she would of advised she would like hers medium/well done (or cooked through). Disappointing! We advised the wait staff and they advised the patty is house made but I don't understand how that affects the cooking (just state it on the menu, if a thicker meat patty takes longer to cook).
The atmosphere and seating arrangements are fantastic with a relaxed atmosphere.
Unless they update the menu with more health friendly options, I don't think I'll be...
Read moreMe and my partner had asked for a cheap room to stay for the night and found out the budget rooms had "no bathroom" so we asked for the next cheapest room which was 120$ and had a bathroom. We walked to our room to discover they had bathrooms just outside the rooms anyways and the staff member booking us had no intention to even tell us that so we could save money. We enter our rooms to get comfortable and discover our wardrobe mirror was covered in what seemed to be popped pimples and bits of blood 𤢠the carpet was also not vaccumed properly with spots of what looks like dried blood through it. The air conditioner was not cooling down our place and the shower head was 60%blocked with really poor pressure (the temperature of the water would also not stay consistent and occasionally burn me). We also discovered the power point we plugged our phone charger into was half installed into the wall and was actually posing an electrical threat. On waking the next day we checked the time on the television and it had been set wrong (our phone died and the charger wasnt working) so we went and got coffee before our checkout time, when we got back to clean up we had realised that the cleaners where already in our room which is perfectly fine and our faults but they have tried to accuse us of smoking in the room because they have seen half snapped cigarettes and scissors on the bench. I explained that we where smokers but we had taken our smoking completely away from the bulding altogether and they tried blaming the neighbouring residents for smelling smoke and complaining. I do not recommend this place for accommodation but it is a lovely pub downstairs for socialising, gaming and food. I do plan on reporting these people for the lack of hygiene and lying to us. We will never be back and will tell all our friends around the area about our experience....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell, wouldn't you know it! You drive all day, really chewing up the tarmac, and you arrive in Gosford after the sun has gone down only to discover Hotel Gosford is still open for dinner, allowing us weary travelers to refuel.
Let's start with the ambiance, what they have done to the place is nothing short of amazing, a relaxed modern, vibe that makes you feel you're in one of the posh Sydney pubs, but the thing that sets it apart is the lack of snobby Sydney ways that, in my opinion, ruins the ambiance.
Secondly, the food was beyond what we had expected, I would have been happy with a pub feed, but honestly the chef there should be the recipient of some award given to chefs for great food, surely those Sydney people could arrange for this, but I digress. I had the pork knuckle, but perhaps it should be called the pork leg. It was the size of a politicians ego, but very palatable and came in at a great price, which is important considering the petrol prices today.
Lastly the staff need a shout out, because not only did they make us feel welcome, but allowed us, all but briefly, to feel local. Maybe not as local as the locals who were making out in the corner, but perhaps they were overcome with passion due to the love and care showed by the staff.
All in all, when the roads of life lead back to Gosford I will once again allow myself to be hosted so expertly by the folks at...
