We had such a fantastic dining experience at Mamma Mia! We walked in on a busy Saturday night without a booking, and even though the restaurant was fully booked, the staff went above and beyond to squeeze us in with a smile—such incredible and accommodating service! The customer service throughout the night was insanely good—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Our food arrived quickly, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We started with the Focaccia al Forno, which was the perfect appetiser to kick off the meal. For mains, we shared the Spaghetti Marinara, Gnocchi with Basil, Margherita Pizza, and Verona Pizza—every single dish was packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. And for dessert, the Nutella Calzone was the perfect sweet ending—warm, gooey, and indulgent. Not a crumb was left on any of our plates! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for amazing Italian food, top-notch service, and a welcoming vibe. We’ll definitely be back!

Had takeaway from here. Offers a delightful taste of Italy with a focus on quick, quality food. While the entire menu is impressive, the pizzas here are truly the stars. As you walk in, the open kitchen reveals skilled chefs hand-stretching dough, spreading rich tomato sauce, and layering toppings to perfection. The pizzas look sensational, and it’s almost impossible to leave without ordering one. The takeaway service is efficient, with orders ready on time and packaged well, keeping everything fresh and intact. Other items, like the pasta dishes and antipasto platters, are good too—well-prepared with rich flavors that transport you to Italy with each bite. However, they don’t quite hold the same wow factor as the pizzas, which arrive with crisp yet chewy crusts and beautifully melted cheese that pulls with every slice. If you’re ordering from here, do yourself a favor and get a pizza—it’s what they do best, and it shows. Highly recommended for pizza lovers!

The Riverina’s most authentic Italian and easily the best pizza in Albury Wodonga by a long shot. Not only is their food absolutely banging and reasonably priced (especially with the kids eat free happy hours) but their customer service really makes this place stand out. The wait staff are always warm and friendly, well versed with each dish and able to accommodate changes and offer suggestions, and consistently go out of their way to provide good service. They are apologetic for any minor inconvenience, and on the very few occasions that we’ve received the wrong order or there has been a slight delay, they have compensated us with a freebie and corrected the problem straight away. There’s plenty of outdoor seating with heating during wintertime too. Recommend booking well advance for Friday/Saturday nights as they pack out every week (testament to their popularity!) PS the crème brûlée is exceptional!

Unfortunately, we had a chaotic and disappointing experience. Clearly, they were having either staffing or system issues or both.

It was expected to be a loud environment, given the small space, and I did find it very hard to converse with our friends. Countless times cutlery etc was dropped nearby and being so close to the open kitchen wasn’t very pleasant.

Service was very slow. We had to seek service several times to chase up wanting to order or ask where our drinks were. Some drinks arrived after the meals, which is when you actually want to drink them.

The spaghetti bolognese was average, certainly not the vibrant flavour I was expecting from an Italian restaurant. My first thought was: “bland”. Sorry guys. The pizza was very soggy also. The tiramisu was spectacular.

However, by no fault of our own, we were asked to leave our table and move to the bar to make room for the next people. If the service wasn’t so slow, we would have been finished. And had our desserts near-thrown at us in a chaotic manner.

It was extremely uncomfortable and stressful sitting at the bar where staff members rushed around us, people entered the space through the tight entrance space bumping against us and full view into the kitchen was an awful atmosphere.

Several tables also seemed to be easily bumped around the restaurant, spilling drinks. Flies and bare-footed customers didn’t help either.

I appreciate that restaurants have crazy nights sometimes due to whatever issue, but I wanted to provide a faithful review because I know that I would appreciate hearing this experience as a would-be diner, and know to avoid.

The wait staff were professional and polite otherwise. The owner looked very stressed.

Beautiful concept, awful...

Disappointing Experience at Mamma Mia

I recently dined at Mamma Mia, hoping for a taste of authentic Italian cuisine, but unfortunately, the experience was far from what I expected. From the moment we were seated, it was clear that service was not a priority—at least not for us.

Despite arriving before several other parties, our table was overlooked time and again. We watched as patrons who clearly knew the owner were served promptly with smiles and preferential treatment, while we were left waiting for ages just to place our order. It’s disheartening to see favoritism so blatantly displayed in what’s supposed to be a welcoming establishment.

When our food finally arrived, it was a letdown. The dishes were bland and uninspired, lacking the robust flavors you would expect from Italian cooking. Even the pasta, a supposed specialty, was under-seasoned and forgettable. It’s clear that more care is given to patrons who are on a first-name basis with the staff than to the quality of the food itself.

Adding to the uncomfortable atmosphere, the owner, who was making rounds and chatting with his friends, completely ignored our table. Any attempt to catch his attention was met with indifference. Meanwhile, I noticed staff members being yelled at in full view of the diners. It was chaotic and unprofessional, creating a tense environment that further detracted from the experience.

Mamma Mia seems more interested in playing favorites than delivering good food or a pleasant dining experience. If you’re not a regular or don’t have a connection, prepare for slow service, mediocre food, and an evening that leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. I won’t...
