Visited twice during our 1 week holiday on the Coffs Coast. Even though we're staying roughly 30 minutes north of Coffs, the recommendation popped up in the wife's facebook feed, and after reviewing the menu I was pretty keen.

Dropped in Friday night for dinner, was surprised the place had no other customers, just us.

Staff were lovely, took our orders, gave us a light press on the upsell for deserts but nothing more than an "if your interested you should try them, they are delicious" (which did result in a Brownie purchase post out meal I might add).

Burgers came in a timely fashion for a full cook to order (10ish minutes), and were delicious with a lot of flavour.

Placed a second order for some different burgers to take back to the van park for the kids (and a 2nd for me as I was still hungry), and those were also very good.

Happened to be coming into Coffs again a few days later to do the tourist thing at the Big Banana, so called into Old Mate for some breakfast since the tower burger had me excited, and it also delivered leaving me full and not even peckish until well after lunch time.

All in all would eat again - a little pricey but the quality and taste was right - couldnt afford to eat there daily, but honestly what take away chain or small store can you do that at these days?

Will be back when im in...

We’ve lived in Coffs for over 3 years and today, was the first time I had an “Old Mate’s” burger.

We are VERY particular when it comes to food and seek out the freshest ingredients and quality wherever possible. I thought the corner shop burger in western Sydney that I fell in love with in the early 80s, disappeared along with the Fonz and Happy Days, Hey Hey it’s Saturday and roller skates. Not so!!!! Chris, Louise and the team have the PERFECT old school burger delivered with wonderful family based service to complement it.

We inadvertently learnt about the herculean effort that Chris in particular puts in daily for his customers, leading us to try this little place and my wife and I are so grateful we did.

We travel the coast from as far north as Yamba and south to Kempsey for high quality food and when we want a burger that tastes fantastic, feels healthy in the belly and we know has been made with real integrity, it’s just a 5 minute drive from us here in Coffs.

I also used the “Old Mate’s Burger” app and that too is great! Very easy to use allowing you to pre-order and also take advantage of the various promos they may have also.

Thanks Chris and Louise for all you do for the community and for providing us some old school goodness that I feared was most certainly...

Driving down the coast I thought I'd drop by for a quick burger before hitting the road again. They were busy with school holiday customers, but my Soul burger was ready in 10 mins or so. Buttermilk fried chicken is always a winner. Here, however, it was a failure. The first red flag was seeing the rigid, very crispy bread roll. Biting into the burger was a challenge. The chicken breast cooked to a jerky-like texture and devoid of most of the crumb. Old mate in the kitchen was having a bad Friday by the look of things. To assemble that and think it's ok is appalling. The sweet young girl taking orders was a delight. Five stars to her. I didn't have the time to return the burger and wait for another one as they were busy and needed to hit the road. $19.50 for the worst burger I've...

A massive drive from Jimboomba Brisbane to Wollongong we had to stop, get petrol, have lunch and a coffee. Google maps directed us into Coffs Harbour and after reading the reviews we chose Old Mates Burgers. Chris and Louise the owners were very friendly and hospitable! We chose the delicious hamburgers (so many choices) hot and very tasty chips and yummy cappuccino. Definitely worth checking it out and making it a place to have some delicious food and a break from the drive. There is a breakfast menu and also tasty wraps, steak sandwiches and schnitzels. Friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy your food inside and also outside.
