Shelly Beach Surf Club — Restaurant in New South Wales

Today we went to Shelly Beach Surf Club to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday and had an incredibly disappointing experience from start to finish.

We started with garlic bread, which was dropped on the floor by a waitress. We were polite and said it was okay, but she didn’t bother replacing it – no fresh bread, no apology, nothing.

When our meals arrived, things only got worse. My mother-in-law ordered the pie, which came out cold. After sending it back, it returned tasting completely off – she couldn’t even eat it. To make matters worse, my mum found a hair in her meal.

When we brought these issues to the attention of the staff – including a woman with dark hair who we believe is the manager – we were met with no apology or accommodation. The attitude was dismissive and unhelpful.

To top it all off, when it came time for the birthday cake, staff simply dumped it in a box without even asking if we wanted it cut or served. We had to do everything ourselves.

Extremely poor service, terrible food, and absolutely no care for customers. Don’t waste your time or money here – we won’t...

This place is a joke. To be fair, the food is quite good but the staff are horrible. The meal I ordered came with chips and when my plate came out it had sweet potato chips. I told our waitress that I don't like sweet potato chips and also let her know that it doesn't say anything about sweet potato chips on the menu. She rectified the issue which was great but then a couple minutes later another member of staff approached our table and told us that they are happy to do alterations but in future please let us know when you order. I told her that it wasn't an alteration and that sweet potato wasn't mentioned on the menu but she didn't seem to care and just walked off. She was extremely rude and spoke to us like we were idiots. We were in the right and their menu was the issue. Sort out your menu and treat your customers with a bit of respect, It's not much to ask... In future when you are wrong, an apology...

Live not far from here but never been ..so First time visiting this restaurant last Friday. Was greeted pleasantly and taken to our outdoor table, which was absolutely spectacular. Very soothing for the soul to eat in such beautiful beach surroundings. A little waiting at first as it was not explained that there is no direct table service - ordering / and separate walk up bar service, After this little set back we ordered at the different counters and the food arrived fairly promptly. Meals were not only visually appealing but were hot fresh and very tasty. Good portions at very reasonable prices. Not as fancy as I hoped it would be overall but pleasantly surprised and impressed with the scenery, food and the service. Our dishes were cleared away promptly. All staff were pleasant.
