THE-O Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in New South Wales

Unfortunately we received terrible service tonight at the restaurant. It was our first time here after reading online good reviews. Ordered caramelised tofu which tasted fine but the adjacent salad was drenched in heavy overwhelming sauce (very sweet and salty) and was extremely hard to eat. When mentioned to the owner she became defensive and claimed it was the first time she had heard of this feed back. Then she went over to the other table to ask if their duck dish was too salty because I on the other table was complaining about it! I explained that the tofu (and possibly their duck) was fine but the salad was dripping with way too much heavy sauce. What terrible service and experience! In addition the other calamari dish was not fresh either but seeing her attitude we decided not to even mention that because who knows what other defensive speech she’d produce to either us or the other table so to spite us! We will definitely be returning to our usual lovely East Thai...

Absolutely atrocious and inappropriate behaviour from the owners. Threatened my mate after all he simply wanted to do was use the bathroom.

We had sat down for a moment outside and were asked to move because we weren’t paying customers (the joint was empty)- fine by me, I understood that. The guy came over to my mate later after he asked to use the bathroom, clasped him around his shoulder and led him to the bathroom and started claiming he (the owner) was in a gang, and said he would be waiting outside the bathroom for him, instantly making my friend uncomfortable. Keep in mind we’re not intimidating people, we’re pretty stock standard.

Turned out it was a misunderstanding, as he thought my mate had something to the woman also working there and later came and apologised, but that doesn’t change the fact it was completely out of order for somebody who is supposed be providing hospitality. Strange and just outright aggressive before even clarifying...

My wife had the Pad Khee Mao because we were trying to decide which Thai restaurant to cater for our Christmas party. We tried all the Thai joints in the Gosford area and The-O Thai was the last restaurant we tried, and wow, we were very impressed. We decided to order our catering for our lunch party, and we had guests from Sydney over for the pre-Christmas lunch. They were very satisfied with the food and even said The-O Thai can easily compete with some of the best Thai restaurants in Sydney. I will definitely be a repeat customer! To the owners of the restaurant, keep doing what you are doing, the food is amazing! Thank you so much for providing such good food at such a high quality for a very successful lunch party.
