Andy fish shop — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

We used to be locals to this fish & chip shop until having to move 1.5 years ago. Last night we thought to revisit as a treat as it was our favourite fish & chip shop! Sorely disappointed!

Unfortunately just from the over the phone customer service, we knew something was extremely off. To order anything it was having to be repeated many times as the person on the other end of the phone seemed to not have any idea on what’s on the menu. I was told they do not do raw onion & only have caramelised (which led me to believe it’s precooked?) tried to order an egg & bacon burger but was told many times they only do bacon & egg rolls. so had to order an egg burger add bacon at additional cost. No name was taken down for pick up which later on became a problem for pick up as I was not the one picking it up.

My friend picked up the food & messaged me fearing that it’s under new management as the place wasn’t kept at the same standard as it once was. Food was brought back to eat to find everything overcooked! Chips dark brown, potato scallops so small & cocktail fish were tiny & dry! The burgers wrapped in foil which makes any salads on the burger wilt & become soggy. Just really sad to see a good thing go.

I hope that these are simply teething issues & can be learned from for future but unfortunately we won’t be returning. Very sad. We miss...

Terrible, terrible, terrible!!! The food here used to be great, but now, definitely not. I ordered delivery. Drink requested was Coke no sugar, was given Sprite which went straight down the sink drain. Ordered pluto pup, no, was given a battered sav or the like, which do not taste the same.

Chips were soggy and lacking salt, snack pack (pumpkin scallop, sweet potato scallop, pineapple fritter and drink) sweet potato scallop very very small, may as well not have bothered.

Medium serve chips very small too.

Works burger was okay, about 6/10, but it was the only thing passable.

All items were thrown in together and very poorly packed.

No communication from the store to advise if any items were out of stock and what would be the best substitute, so I can't even tell if they were out of stock.

So sad to see the current state of food and service, I will never order...

Couldn’t even order from these ppl as their shop was sooo dirty and there was dirt and rubbish all over the place. The girl behind the counter was sweet and that’s where it ends. The range hood looked broken, oil dripping down from the top. Old freezer in the way as you walk in with old frozen chips and dirty rubbish in there. The floor hasn’t been cleaned for god knows how long. The table they were working off looked dirty along with brown veges and dirty bench top. Needed a really good clean. Health needs to inspect this shop because I can assure you it would fail safety and WH&S checks. I’m sorry but absolute turnoff and you feel gross for just having stood inside the shop. Wouldn’t be game to...
