Merewether Fresh Bake — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

This is my first time leaving a google review, unfortunately this is how disappointed merewether fresh bake has left me, i was finally able to make it to what was once my favourite bakery, first time in the better part of a year. Arrive at 3pm to find a customer talking with the lady ( one of 3 staff ) about his holiday and what not, after making me wait 10 minutes without attempting to ask for his order, nor other staff bothering to serve me, he finally left the shop and that's when i finally got served, i asked for a chicken salad sandwich, the lady told me "we have run out".... I asked confusingly "of what? Chicken?" as they clearly had bread, and staff and i was willing to substitute for ham or whatever they had. The answer then changed, "No we have just stopped doing them..... We stop doing them at 3pm, they are pretty popular". I walked out with my pie which i only ordered because i was hungry, got to my car checked my phone and by this time it was 3.12pm....

We bought a chocolate cake with cherries for a special occasion and it was so terrible. A mud cake from Cole’s would have been much nicer which we were going to buy but decided to treat ourselves.

The cake itself was bland and tasted like a packet cake. The thick chocolate layers in between dominated and were extremely sickly and buttery. It was like an awful mock cream. Very disappointing to pay $30 for this disappointing cake and we can only describe it...
