The Stack Shack — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

I am familiar with and I love Greek food. I know it is hard to find a good Moussaka outside of Greece, but because this place has high rating, I was expecting something worth trying.

Instead, the Moussaka I got was heated in the microwave for 1min, served to me very cold in the middle, and did not have a nice look.

I told the staff and they apologised and put it in the oven for 5 or 10min, then served again to me. It was still not hot, but at least warmish. The waiter told me he did not want me to wait longer, but what is the point to get food in rush if the place was empty (only me) and if it is served not right. They also told me the dish was prepared three days before, which you could taste.

In the end, I ate it all anyway because I was starving, I paid for it and I hate wasting food, unless it is really awful. But not going back, not for the Moussaka at least.

Is there any VERY GOOD AND FRESHLY MADE dish there?

Described in detail how I like my eggs cooked and how I don't like a slimy top. What did I get? Eggs with a slimy top after I'd waited 30 minutes!! Maybe one other customer! I said I couldn't eat it like that and can he please put them back in the frypan for a minute. Then the serving guy said "you need to tell the kitchen staff you want them 'sealed'! I'd never heard of that term and thought why should I say that when I already asked for 'over easy' and already explained I don't like slimy eggs! They did not listen in the first place! No apology for keeping me waiting for 30 minutes just putting the blame on me. I waited another 10 minutes for my flipped eggs which would would taken 2 seconds and gave up! Shocking service! Cheap cost but now I know why! Won't be back....

The Stack Shack Cafe at Mayfield does not make or serve "rotten food" in response to a very damning Google review posted by some imbecile on Sunday. Whoever that was, they are of course entitled to their opinions about the cafe, however they did not give specific feedback or critical appraisal about anything in particular and a personal approach to the cafe manager would have been a more appropriate way to convey their discontent. Instead of just a blanket slam on Google without any known basis for it. All staff at Stack Shack Mayfield, always strive to provide a mindful, heart felt, lovely customer experience on any given day.
