The food was good, but the service was terrible. We booked a table in the courtyard & arrived early, only to be told that they gave our table away to someone else. Why would they do that? So we had to wait while they made up another table inside. With a group of 8, it was lucky they could fit us elsewhere. I don't like bright lights in a restaurant, but the lighting was so dim that I struggled to see faces. Not good. They only set 6 places & when we brought their attention to that they set 2 more plates, but not water glassses. Then we had a long wait before anyone came near us again with menus. We had to ask for 2 more water glasses, a second jug of water & wine glasses. We also asked for an ice bucket for the wine. We got the glasses, water & our order taken, but had to ask again for an ice bucket. The bucket never came. From time of arrival we waited 1¼ hrs for food. And then we found a piece of plastic in the food; like part of a takeaway container. Had they just reheated our food? One of our party used to be a chef & felt the service was unacceptable. We all did, actually. So he complained to staff & was given an apology with an offer of a 50% discount. The original bill was $155. We were then passed the eftpos machine with $100 on it. That's approximately 33% off. When we pointed out the discrepancy they brought the bill down to $75. Much better. At least they were generous with the discount, but I wonder if they meant to...

the waitress (who actually also owns and runs the restaurant with her family) is humble, sweet and friendly. hubby & i got a chance to have a chat with her after dinner and we learned a lot about the restaurant and it’s history. she is also a trained chef, mum and a makeup artist - i would call that a superhuman.
we ordered butter chicken, paneer matar (cottage cheese and peas curry), chicken biryani with raita, rice, cheese and garlic naans, a regular naan and a yummy paan kulfi for dessert 🍨
the food was AMAZING. even my picky australian husband (who was hesitant to try this place as he is more used to “white indian food”) absolutely loved it and raved how delicious it was.
the interior and ambience of the restaurant is beautiful as well - there are 2 seating areas - one inside and one at the back where we sat, with beautiful green and indian decor and fairy lights. it was so beautiful.
we will definitely be back. absolutely delicious food, and incredible, kind...
