Choosing a special venue to host your 50th birthday is not easy with so many choices across Newcastle. As someone whom worked for 15 years in high end restaurants in Sydney and Brisbane I have very high expectations from a venue, their chefs, bar staff and functions manager and boy did Gabby and Adam and the staff at the Nags head Adamstown not only deliver but exceeded, they're true hospitality professionals!!
As someone who chooses a plant based diet Gabby, the chefs and staff all worked seamlessly and tweaked the food options to ensure there was adequate portions of vegan food for myself and my partner whilst well and truly catering to the remainder of my carnivore guests. The food was stunning and goes above what you would expect from a pub. The team of chefs really know their craft, the food was more than excellent in terms of variety of options, freshness, flavours, textures, portion size and overall value for money. Bravo, stunning job.
In addition the spritzer and cocktails on offer are imaginative, over the top delicious, well priced and on par with the best I have experienced anywhere in the world (and I am well travelled).
On top of all this the lounge area we booked was a perfect size with wonderful ambience. The staff were very attentive, kept the area clean and nothing was too much trouble.
As a hospitality professional myself for many years and having high expectations and standards I can't praise The Nags Head at Adamstown enough, they are a true shining star in the Newcastle hospitality scene.
Seriously do yourself a favour and contact Adam and Gabby at the Nags for your special function, they won't disappoint!! I rate them as 11/10.
Thank you Gabby and Adam at the Nags for making my 50th such a memorable evening. I can't praise you all...
Read moreI recently stayed at The Nags Head in Adamstown, NSW, 2289. during the week day races at Newcastle racecourse Broadmeadow and it was the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Just a short five-minute walk from the train station, the location is incredibly convenient for travelers. The pub and hotel offer a welcoming and cozy atmosphere, making it an ideal place to relax after a long day.
The highlight of my visit was definitely the bistro. The menu boasts a fantastic selection of delicious meals, and everything I tried was freshly prepared and bursting with flavor. The attentive staff added to the experience, providing friendly service that made me feel right at home.
The accommodations were comfortable and well-appointed, providing a peaceful sanctuary for a restful night’s sleep. Overall, The Nags Head is a gem in Adamstown, offering both great hospitality and excellent dining options. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a...

Room was reset and pjs folded!
The bad: Paper thin walls and from room 10 you can basically hear people talking word for word down stairs.
Wednesday into Thursday; As much as I enjoy the hit song “gone away” from the offsprings 1997 album ixnay on the hombre. I choose not to try and relive my misspent youth through an auxiliary cord and iPhone 7 at 4am while installing throw down carpet tiles during a renovation. (At this point I actually went down to turn off his speaker.)
Thursday into Friday morning
As I write this now, its Thursday’s evening 2310, no live band tonight just Billie eilish’s “bad guy” with that reverberate 135bmp bass line and a whole lot of vibe. (That pent up, patriarchy hating, smashed avocado, teen angst)
Would stay again if you’d supply a...
