We ate here whilst staying at the Gateway Inn next door. The Texas BBQ was busy so we decided to eat at the Iron Kitchen which is just the bistro in the club. I noticed that there was quite a few meals left on the tables but just thought they might of been to big to eat so ordered anyway. I orfered the Bosciola pasta and GF had the Salmon both of which were terrible. The pasta had a brown watery sauce all through it which im guessing was from the mushrooms and way to much parmesan which i had to move to the side. Im not fussy and usually just eat a meal even if its not very good but I couldn’t eat more than 4/5 mouthfuls of this, it was salty, gluggy and just tasted bad. The Salmon was super dry and over cooked with mash potato that was lumpy, dry and looked like powdered potatoe, the peas and carrots were soggy from sitting in water. I sent my pasta back for a refund but my GF was so hungry she ate the Salmon but none of the vegetables. Whilst we were there, approx 40 min, i watched no less than 20 meals go barely touched and left for the bistro staff to scrape into the bin. I realised it was because the food was so bad not because they were big meals. The girl that refunded my meal and the manager that was there were both apologetic, friendly...
Read moreWe went there tonight after our grandson's swimming lesson at 5pm. One would think that as the Bistro opens at 5pm for dinner the food would be not only hot but taste fresh as well. I ordered a Roast Pork & the meat was luke warm & dry, the gravy was thick as cement & the roast potatoes I had to take back as they were not only reheated & tasted reheated they were barely warm, the beans had the colour boiled out of them, the carrots had lots of colour but again they were barely warm. On the plus side, the pumpkin tasted fresh but was also barely warm & the crackling was a good crackling but barely warm. I don't know what time of the day you have to get hot food served at the correct temperature at this venue, but I do know it's not between 5 & 5.15 pm. I am sure if they did an on the spot survey asking all the diners are they happy with the freshness & temperature of the meals I would be very surprised if you got any positives. After all the renovations & advertising for good meals, I am terribly disappointed & won't be trying the food there again. I will go out of my way to go Cardiff West's where the meals are consistently good & hot. If they can do it why can't...
