Perth go-to cafe Possibly one of the most unique experiences I have had at a cafe before. I have heard great praise about Palette, specifically for it’s iced matchas and superb food. If you are a matcha-holic like me, I would say Palette is well worth the hype. Not only is it an exquisite looking beach-side cafe, the atmosphere brings you in. Wait while you are seated at a perfectly made table with complimentary water. I must say, if it wasn’t for our misfortune of coming when a fire alarm was on, I believe the experience of going to Palette would have been quite soothing. Nevertheless, the menu has a huge variety of delicious sounding foods, despite us only getting a croissant and calling it a day. I cannot wait to come back and try the rest of the food. We also had greater misfortune to learn that around 11:30, they stop making breakfast which, was what we had originally come for. Due to the far alarm going off during those last few minutes after 11, we unluckily missed breakfast. We eventually landed on the pistachio croissant which was filled like a dubai chocolate bar, a crunchy pistachio filling topped with chocolate crumbs and pistachio cream, it truly was a pistachio lovers dream croissant. The matcha though, to die for. We decided to try both the pistachio and strawberry matchas, of which were so flavourful and packed with texture. The pistachio matcha, tasted more like pistachio than matcha however that is not necessarily a bad thing, sprinkled with pistachio crumbs and a rim of pistachio. The strawberry matcha, filled with strawberry syrup and covered with strawberry foam was a beautiful combination of sweet and bitterness, the strawberry complimenting the matcha perfectly. Those matchas were well worth the wait. Overall, the experience of going here was splendid. The staff were so welcoming, it was a beautiful looking cafe, and (despite the fire alarm going off) the atmosphere was lively and vibrant. I cannot wait to return to Palette, next time to conquer the breakfast menu. Thank you again Palette!

Came here on Sunday with my friend, having been before and having a good experience I recommended we give it a go. Big mistake. We were told upon arrival (~11:20am) that breakfast was no longer being served and we could only order drinks or food from the cabinet until 12pm which wasn’t an issue as we were willing to wait. Once sat we ordered two strawberry matches which took quite a while to arrive, but they tasted fine. We were provided water glasses but no water until after our food had arrived, which the waiter realise and seemed embarrassed. At 12pm, we noticed waitstaff taking orders of people around us, however we didn’t have our order taken until a waitress approached and asked if she could take our menus, and when I mentioned that we wanted to order she questioned that and seemed quite perplexed that we were trying to order. “You want to order..?” After which our food took about 35 minutes to come out while other people around us had received their meals and were finishing up by the time our food arrived. The chicken vodka sandwich was just ok. It tasted very unseasoned/bland and had far too much sauce. Overall the location is nice but the wait time was extremely long, and having worked hospitality jobs before I believe that the complete lack of communication was a bit ridiculous to experience.

I recently tried Palette Fremantle and had such a great experience that I felt it deserved a proper review. I ordered the steak sandwich with fries from the lunch menu as my main and also tried the calamari on the side. Both dishes came out quickly and were cooked perfectly. The steak sandwich was hearty, with tender meat and well-balanced flavours, while the fries were crispy and seasoned just right. The calamari was also impressive—lightly battered, not greasy at all, and paired with a fresh dipping sauce that really elevated it. Beyond the food, the atmosphere of this place really stood out to me. The restaurant has a vibrant yet relaxed vibe, making it feel inviting whether you’re there for a casual meal or catching up with friends. I especially appreciated the illustrations and décor around the space, which gave it a unique and creative touch. The service was another highlight. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and quick to serve, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. It’s always nice to feel genuinely looked after when dining out, and Palette Fremantle definitely delivered on that front. Overall, a fantastic spot I’d happily return to.

I had breakfast which was excellent. So I took 2 friends there for lunch which was rather disappointing. The serving size was too small, the fish was poorly cooked, the steak sandwich was underwhelming there was no orange juice and the orders for beer and food had to be repeated several times to the waitress. The atmosphere and location is excellent. Management needs to be more exacting in their instructions to staff as in... Immediately provide what the customer has ordered, provide a reasonable serving size, bring food and drinks out in a timely and ordered manner, and remember which person ordered what. It is a mark of professionalism. The place imo has a management problem and as such is very hit and miss. On the whole, balancing my breakfast and lunch experience. I will go there again for breakfast, but recommending it for lunch to two friends again is something I will not do as it was embarrassing. I am now banned from making recommendations:) in our lunch group. On the whole the place has great potential but it is a bit like Melbourne weather. I hope they can improve in future as the place has a lot of potential and I really hope it can succeed. But these days in Perth there are many other options.

Enough with the small serving size and implement basic training for waiters.

Provide a written framework for waiters to learn and follow. Give people a bigger serve than they expect, not to do so will result in reduced earnings, while management probably think they are reducing costs, as an economist I can tell you this will not optimise profitability.

The place has a lot of potential, but management needs to get serious about service, serving size, and in some cases what is served. A steak sandwich should not be that hard to get...

I made a reservation for an outdoor table last night, which was confirmed via email. However, when we arrived this morning, there was no table reserved for us despite looking around. I sat at a table while my partner went inside to inquire about our reservation. They explained that they had placed a reservation sign on a table, but someone must have removed it, and there were no available tables at that moment. My partner mentioned that it was fine as I had already sat down, so we could just take that table. The hostesses with the tablet, the one with dark hair and another with blonde, gave us a strange look and rudely said, "Oh, you already have a table?" My partner explained that we had a reservation and I only sat there while I was waiting. They walked away without offering an apology or any comment which I found unprofessional, especially considering that if I hadn’t sat down, there would have been no outdoor seating available, as it was busy, and we couldn’t sit inside due to having our dog with us. To make matters worse, they laughed together near the entrance after walking away from the conversation they had with my partner. The food was decent, and the coffee was fine, but the matcha was very disappointing—it tasted like just iced milk. I wouldn't recommend it to matcha enthusiasts. The service from the young man was pleasant, but the two women we interacted with were not...
