Ok so, hear me out. There are some good things about this place and some plain just weird things and some things they can do way better.
Firstly, we were never asked if we wanted anything except if we were ready to order food, we were not offered water, drinks or wine glasses for our BYO wine (we had to fetch those ourselves, also had to fetch the beer too).
Secondly, the BYO wine. I went to the bar to ask for glasses and notice some nice big stylish wine glasses and asked for those, I was told I would have to have different glasses which turned out to be ridiculous little glasses. The reason I was told I had to have the small ones was so that they could identify that I had bought my own wine and if I drank to excess and something happened then they weren't accountable...mmm ok. Here's where it gets even weirder, then I was told that we could only have one bottle of BYO per three people so I'm not sure how anyone could drink to excess when 3 people are drinking one bottle of wine and also how would you go if you were two couples on a table of 4 with one couple wanting to drink red wine and the other couple wanting to drink white wine, you wouldn't be allowed with their weird one bottle to 3 people rule. Then I asked how many bottles I could buy if I was buying them in house and the answer was as many as I like...say what?
Thirdly, the menu touts the words local when it comes to prawns. Now I've eaten my fair share of local prawns in pasta dishes and it's a dead giveaway when the prawns have been peeled and prepped by hand as opposed to the ones that come out of a bag. My pasta dish with prawns had at least 15 prawns in it, maybe more. Now I don't know any restaurant that can stick 15 + local hand prepped prawns in a $24 meal and make a profit unless the prawns are from the caterers' bag and likely imported and coincidentally every prawn was exactly the same size, shape and approximate weight. Also, my friends gamberetti had at least a full cup of watery liquid in the bottom, looked more like a Luksa than a pasta/prawn dish.
And lastly, it was hot in there, I have a good tolerance to heat but the table of ladies next to us complained and a staff member came over and turned on the air conditioner which immediately cooled the area down. One of the ladies asked why it wasn't on earlier and the staff member said it was but must've turned itself off. Ok, now that's an odd one. I'm leaning towards them trying to save money and not turning it on until someone complains.
Now I'm wondering if the person who reads these will come back with some answers to the points I've raised or they will give me the standard thanks for coming, hope to see you again response. I'm not sure if they are interested in fixing the poor service as it's been mentioned here in these reviews before, and hey, the place is busy so if they're making money then why bother to improve. On a good note, the pizza entree we had was very good and the venue has a nice vibe. Will I be back, mmm...probably not, there are places that provide...
Read moreThis restaurant is open since 35 years and I'm a regular customer since 5 years now and this is my favorite restaurant in Darwin. Why? Great food, great staff, and great atmosphere! It's family friendly and very lively. Sure, sometimes it gets a bit loud when the restaurant is packed but it just speaks for itself how popular this place is amongst Darwinites. Make sure you book a table as the restaurant is literally 'full house' most of the evenings. A solid and reliable Italian trattoria which offers a variety of entrees, pizza, pasta, meat and seafood dishes and delicious deserts such as home made tiramisu, frangelico affogato and mud and cheese cakes. The obligatory after dinner espresso is always perfect! Super Pizza kept it's tradition to allow BYO wines and sparkling while it is also licensed. Bring your favorite bottle of wine or sparkling! Having Italian families dining here underlines the authentic Italian cuisine. My restaurant of choice when I want to have a satisfying dinner experience with friends, family or my partner, just the 2 of us or in a big group of 12 people for celebrations. I also like the new option to be able to book a table online and even pre-order your dinner. Parking is available right in front of the front door and back door. Sure, sometimes there are small hiccups with food and service but that's what I expect when it's busy and we could always work it out. Thank you for many great...
Read moreI walked into the store to pick my pizza up & they were a little busy and 5x staff members standing in front of me. I waited just over 2 minutes before asking where to collect my pizza from. A lady says to me right here!! I was thinking you made me wait and not even one staff member even acknowledged I was even alive. Anyway I pay for my pizza and get home 6 minutes later because I'm a local the pizza looked ok but when we try the first slice I was like wtf. The crust is really thin and dryer then 5 week old toast and the chicken was dryer then the sahara dessert and there was hardley any bbq sauce. I ordered the chicken bbq pizza. I felt so ripped off so I called the store and explained to the guy that I didn't want a refund and the store should do something about the terrible thing they call pizza. And to my amazement the staff member tells me just between me and you that they have been telling the people in there back of kitchen at the chicken is dry and it is what it is!! I couldn't believe what I'd just been told. Me and my partner will never go back again to fannie bay pizza and I'm confused to how they are still in business I'm really confused!! Big waste of $38 and will...
