The sunset views while having dinner were amazing but I have to mark this place down for two reasons
I ordered two drinks from the bar while being unaware of the rule about not wearing hats while being served. (Note: this was an outdoor setting while the sun was still out) All good I took it off. As the second drink was being finished, I put the hat back on so I could carry both back to the table but was told in no uncertain terms not to wear a hat while being served.
Look, im quite happy to abide by the house rules and explained I was simply putting it on to carry both drinks back and I wouldnt wear the hat back at the bar but it wasnt good enough..
Surely a simple "all good but dont wear it again" is fine. Given that others were in singlets, thongs and shorts, I really do not understand what the big deal is about wearing a hat for 30 seconds at the bar after removing it while the drinks were being poured so that I could carry them back to.the table after explaining exactly what I was doing and wouldnt wear it again.
I ordered a medium rare scotch with chips and veg with pepper sauce. Collect the meal and its chips and salad. Fine I can live with that. I ask the person to confirm if it is the right meal with pepper sauce, and they say yes. I go back, pour the sauce on the steak and its mushroom. With two things wrong on the order I take it back and at first the response is, ill get you some pepper sauce. By this stage the mushroom sauce is already on the steak.... its a bit late. Only when I point.out that two things on the order were wrong did they agree to replace the meal.
With that said, the food was actually good when the right meal came out and the beer was cold. I'd go there again but I think its a pity that my first impression of the venue was a combination of a messed up order and an insanely strict interpretation of the house rules with zero flexibility. I can understand the attitude if I point blank refused to comply, but I was more than happy to comply and did so on the next...
Read moreThe food is really good. If you could separate and only give a review for service, it would be 1 star. If you are expecting any kind of decent service, a hello at the bar, acknowledgement that you exist even. Don't come here. Multiple times over the last year we have been ignored by bar staff. I thought it was a one off. But no. They don't say hello, they don't even ask who is next, they will just stare at you. We organised a birthday dinner reservation and brought a cake. We politely asked if we could put the cake in a fridge, the woman said yes and just walked off. We were let standing there wondering what was going on. In addition, the glasses for the water jugs are kept in an old mouldy fridge thay doesn't work, which is questionably a health and safety issue. Again, great food. Really horrible...
Read moreHaving lived in Darwin for 7 years and having enjoyed many a fine night and food at the Sailing Club, I cannot say how thoroughly disappointed I was last night to return after a year or so. I took 8 friends and everyone was disappointed with the food.
Seafood platter no longer available. Salad bar no longer available Pasta was served luke warm Garlic bread was cold "chilled" half kilo of prawns was .....not chilled and prawns lacked colour and flavour. Laksa was a poor example.
