Burritos: ⭐⭐ - Lacking in flavor. Chips: ⭐⭐⭐ - Inconsistent; sometimes crispy and delicious, other times soggy. Nachos: ⭐⭐⭐ - Decent but occasionally missing paid extras. Pricing: ⭐⭐ - Feels a bit high given the food quality. Breakfast Burrito: ⭐⭐⭐ - Uneven spice distribution. Coffee Sizing: ⭐⭐ - Misleading; "medium" size is small. Service: ⭐⭐⭐ - Average; neither exceptionally good nor bad. Speed of Service: ⭐⭐ - Slow at times, 5-8 min wait @drivethru Margarita: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Excellent; highlight of the experience.
I've found myself returning to Guzman y Gomez, the new Mexican fast-food joint on my street, several times in the hope of a satisfying meal. Unfortunately, my experiences have been subpar at best, with a slew of disappointments that have continually marred what could be a delightful gastronomic journey.
Let's start with the basics: the burritos. To be honest, they leave a lot to be desired. One expects a burrito to be a well-rounded burst of flavor, but here, it's quite the contrary. The blandness of these wraps borders on criminal, making it a poor choice for anyone yearning for authentic Mexican food. The chips were quite nice.
The nachos are passable, but the missed add-ons take away from the overall enjoyment. I've been left without my serving of sour cream on more than one occasion, despite having paid extra for it, leaving a sour (or perhaps not-so-sour) taste in my mouth.
Guzman y Gomez seems to have an inflated view of its culinary offerings, judging by the high prices. As much as I love Mexican food, it's hard to justify frequenting a place where the cost-to-quality ratio isn't appealing.
The saving grace could've been their breakfast burrito, an item that I found myself tolerating more than the others. But inconsistency with the spice level was an issue here too. It's puzzling when you have to bite through half a burrito before you encounter any spice, and then it's only at the ends. It's as though the burrito was an afterthought and hastily put together.
Now, I could've forgiven most of these, chalking it up to bad luck or even my possibly high expectations. However, my recent encounter has left me disheartened. I ordered a breakfast meal, specifically asking for a medium coffee. After a rather long wait, I was handed a cup that was distinctly small. When I questioned this, I was informed that their sizing began at medium. In a world where we embrace change and diversity, Guzman y Gomez has chosen to redefine cup sizes, a move that left me perplexed and irritated.
Having weighed the so-called 'medium' coffee at home, it clocked in at a measly 235g, cup and lid included. This doesn't justify their elevated prices and certainly doesn't meet the standards of a medium coffee.
To sum up, my multiple visits to Guzman y Gomez were fueled by my love for Mexican food and the hope that it would finally live up to my expectations. Regrettably, this hasn't been the case. The quality of food, coupled with their high prices and bewildering coffee sizes, make it a place I would hesitate to recommend.

Read more⭐ ⭐️ 2 Star - "Nach-no Way" Experience at Nowra GYG 🌮😫
Crikey! I recently dropped by the Guzman y Gomez in Nowra, and let me tell ya, it was like a taco tumbleweed rolled through the joint! 🌵🌮
First off, the service was slower than a snail in molasses! I had plenty of time to learn Spanish just waiting for my order. I mean, it's a Mexican joint - not a siesta siesta fiesta, right? 😴🐌
Now, let's talk about the food. I ordered their "spicy" tacos, but they were about as fiery as a soggy vegemite sandwich. I swear I saw the chili peppers yawning when they hit my tongue. Come on, GYG, spice it up a notch! 🔥🥴
But the real sombrero dropper was the nachos - they were flatter than a pancake in the Outback! I had to use a magnifying glass to find the toppings. Where's the nacho party, GYG? Not invited, apparently. 🕵️♂️🍅
And don't even get me started on the guacamole! I think it was trying to play hide-and-seek because I could barely find any. It was like spotting a kangaroo in the city - rare and elusive! 🥑🦘
The atmosphere was about as lively as a dingo in a drowsy daze. I half-expected to see tumbleweeds blowing through the dining area. Where's the fiesta, GYG? Are we celebrating Taco Tuesday or Taco Snooze-day? 🎉🌵
I must admit, I've had better burritos at a school fete. Sorry, GYG Nowra, but it's "nacho" finest moment. I'll be steering clear until the fiesta's back in full swing! 🚫🎉🌮
Warning: Side effects may include dreaming of flavorful fiestas, an urge to create your own taco joint, and an occasional craving for real Aussie nachos. Better luck next time,...
Read moreWhen I first heard that there was a Guzman opening up in Nowra, I was ecstatic as someone who moved from Sydney and ate a lot of it. The first day they opened, my husband and I went and ordered burritos. The burritos consisted of 85% rice and beans and barely anything else. We gave them the benefit of the doubt as they just opened and they’re still learning, so we let it go. We have Guzman once a week and every single week, we give them another chance. Unfortunately, every single burrito we have ordered had the same problem. We kept giving chance after chance considering the fact that they’re new. But it’s been over 2 months and it’s still the same issue. It’s really disappointing because now we will no longer be buying burritos from there as it’s not worth spending that money for rice and beans. I didn’t rate one star though as their nacho fries are always fantastic and the service has always been good! Hoping it gets better from here!! But probably won’t be purchasing...
