Rocketman Ocean Grove — Restaurant in Ocean Grove

We are regulars at ocean grove with a house on the terrace. Always go up the shops for coffee/ brunch and have tried this cafe a few times, I think in the past it was sensory cafe before a rebrand again.

Would love for this cafe to be good, it’s great spot if you sit outside with a few of the ocean. I went here yesterday with my daughters for lunch and was really disappointed. Coffee is ok, but originally got my order incorrect. The food was terrible unfortunately. My kids burger was just a flat over cooked patty which was tasteless, lucky kids aren’t fussy if you also give them fries.

I had the chicken burger and it sounded great on the menu, waitress said it was a ‘large’ burger, no need for fries. Unfortunately a maccas burger would be better - chicken was burnt, overcooked and dry - bread roll was stale and just fell apart, the coleslaw tasted just like it was from the supermarket. The burger didn’t work, flavour just wasn’t there and I could only eat half of it. Lucky I could steal my daughters fries.

Honestly I wish this place was good but it’s a bad sign in school hols and the place is empty. Note to chef / owner - it’s great to have a cafe in a good spot but you have to also be able to serve good food to keep people coming back. Lucky I was with my kids and I paid yesterday- if they weren’t there I wouldn’t have.

I was so looking forward to going here when I heard that it was opening. Whatever business that has been in this location has always been my favourite, but unfortunately they always shut down after a while. Unfortunately, I won’t be surprised if this happens again. $18 for a burger, and then have to pay an extra $5 for a hand full of fries to go with that is ridiculous. Not only should the price be around $12-$13, but the fries should be part of it. This is the amount that the previous food outlets that continue to close in this location would be charging. I thought I would hold my opinion until I at least saw how big it was, and what it tasted like. In my opinion McDonalds is not only a bigger burger, but also more tasteful, plus better value. The bun was very average, and the patty was flat and tasteless. If you want to charge such high prices then please make it bigger and tastier. At least include fries if you continue to charge this amount. The main reason I went there was because every other place was full, and there was at least an hour wait. Rocketman was virtually empty and had no wait. Now I can see why. I always like to give new business a go when they first open, but unfortunately, unless things improve, I will be going back to my usual...

Great in every aspect! We looked at a few places and chose Rocketman and we are extremely glad we did. The menu looked great but we both couldn’t pass up the special for the Benny Burger, it was the greatest! The staff were very welcoming as soon as we stepped in the door and seemed genuinely friendly and happy to have us there. The 2 guys were very welcoming and had such a great vibe. The coffee was very tasty and we highly recommend everyone to stop in.

This is more of an observation than anything, but the first coffee and second coffee I had were very different. The first was really dark, bitter and velvety. The second was very fruity, had slight acidity to it and a lot of body. Both were good but I was hoping for another of the same. I’m not mad about it just not what I expected.
