Today myself and a girlfriend wandered into The Olive Pit, appalling service, soup came cold with toast! We ordered leek and potato, first sip tasted like pea and ham? strange took it back to the counter and was rudely told that it was the right temperature and oh the potato and leek has bacon in it, what? we are vegetarian. Well she may as well have said bad luck! we don’t have any pumpkin left. Ohhh wow! They then preceeded to take our soups and bought them back at the right temp. Oh well and nothing. So we got up and walked after paying for the soup! Rude, disinterested, no apology, what else can we get you? NOTHING! If I were the owner I would definitely be there...
Read moreWe visited The Olive Pit in Ocean Grove just before 1:30 pm in late December, and the deli was pretty much empty, which meant there wasn’t much to choose from for lunch. We settled for a croissant and a toasty — both were decent but average, nothing extraordinary. On a brighter note, they do sell some local goods, which is a nice touch, as well as novelty chocolates like a large bullet and chocolate freckle for $1 each. Fun little treats for those with a sweet tooth! There’s also self-serve water, though it’s room temperature, which didn’t quite hit the mark...
Read moreWe went for Sunday morning breakfast. The food took 45 minutes despite the cafe being only half full. The smashed avocado had barely a smear of avocado (despite avos being only $1:30 retail at the time) on what tasted like gluten free bread (supposedly sourdough). The big breakfast advertised hash browns yet none were included. The responses to our complaints were: “We don’t serve hash browns”. Huh? “You didn’t tell us you were gluten free”. Huh?
