Update - response to Choox owner: Thanks for your reply, but I don’t believe you need any further information from me - based on my extensive review and others you have received it’s pretty clear what you need to work on. There are plenty of family run businesses, that doesn’t excuse poor quality food or service. To your credit the coleslaw was nice - but I ended up throwing the chips out because they were really not good, and had clearly been refried - which was sad because I really hate wasting food. Hope you can take all the feedback on board - Choox does have a lot of potential. Original review: They’d run out of chicken by 730pm, but we still decided to get some sides. The lady taking orders was very disengaged and actually walked off half way through our order. We waited 25 minutes for four dishes - three of which were pre made (two salads and potato bake). So essentially waited 25 minutes for the hot chips, which weren’t even good - honestly tasted like frozen supermarket chips. The potato bake they served us was from the dregs of the pan even though I requested to have some of the fresher one which was already out. Also when I left I realised they’d messed up the order and charged me for large salads rather than regular, which was obviously more expensive so that was disappointing too. Don’t know if the management has changed because I remember it being much better. Upon reflection - I’m incredibly glad that they’d run out of chicken, because after looking at some recent reviews the chicken is often either dry or undercooked, which is clearly a health hazard. What a shame - I’ll...
Read moreFood: aprox $33 - fish and chips and ‘large’ Caesar salad I ordered over the phone for pick up at 7. I got there at about 7:15 by which time the box with the food in it didn’t feel very hot which was disappointing because even though I was late I assumed they would have a hot box or heating cabinet to keep the food at a desirable temperature. I had to walk home and do some quick shopping at IGA so it was probably another 15 minutes until I actually ate it, by which time the food was barely lukewarm. I don’t know if the cold temperature was a product of me walking home and being a bit late but I’ve had food that retained temperature for more than 1/2 hour after it’s preperation, which makes me think they had made it a while in advance before 7, ie, it wasn’t fresh. However, the fish and chips were still good, the cold temperature really just threw me. The chips did have a good salty flavour and the tartare that came with it was good, not great though. I also got a large Caesar Salad, which was a bit underwhelming. The Caesar dressing had a lovely tangy flavour, however I didn’t think there was enough egg in it, but the croutons were delicious.
Service: The lady who served me wasn’t rude but wasn’t friendly either, she seemed a bit frustrated the whole interaction, to be fair I did ask a lot of questions but she seemed fed up before that.
Atmosphere: very clean and well lit, the menu was clearly visible although it needs updating as some of the items I asked about are no...
Read moreAbout 8 months ago I went in to Choox which the year before had been my go to chicken burger shop. This visit was solidified as my last with a complete stuff up of my order. I usually order a chicken burger without bacon as I have allergies and when it was first sent out to me I checked it and there being bacon on my burger I asked them to change out the buns and cook the patty again. I was more than happy to wait seeming I enjoyed their burgers. Within two minutes I was served my burger which was already worrying. After telling the lady working I needed it all switched out she promised me she had done so. Upon getting home I opened the burger and not to anyone’s surprise the maple from the bacon was still present and clearly nothing had been switched out. What an absolute disappointment. Burger joint gone bad. To top it off my favourite part about Choox, the chips had changed and were no longer the incredible potato chips they had been. Down the gutter, never again....
