Wouldn't recommend due to the attitude of the owner/chef and the bland food.
Having ordered a Thai beef salad I was presented with a pleasantly plated meal but from the first bite of the 'thai marinated steak' it was apparent that the dressing had split as the entire meal was coated in oil with no seasoning at all. The Luke warm steak left a greasy slim on my lips, as did the salad.
Expecting that I'd just send it back and it would be re dressed I, and my family, were completely shocked when we were advised that the chef says 'you are wrong, they tried it and it's fine'. Gobsmacked.
I let the server know that while she, herself, had been super sweet that the response was appalling. A (presumable) floor manager came back shortly after to clear plates after I'd asked to speak with someone else and been avoided, and I made sure to let her know how gobsmacked we were. On leaving we were comped that meal but the damage was done through terrible treatment and we won't return. Also jumped straight online to review which j typically only do with positive reviews.
The vibe of the place was bland. Clearly set up for the oldies who only like salt and pepper seasoning. The restaurant is clean and tidy. The menu has a decent variety of options but I've tasted better from home cooking. The snitzel burger was dry and the pork belly salad lacked seasoning as well but was carried by the flavour of pork.
I gave the service two stars for the simple fact we had a sweet young waitress but she was being spoken to appallingly by management and seemed constantly on the verge of tears. I wanted to hug her and find her...
Read moreGreat cafe. It's 2 streets back from St, Summer St,has off-street park for 10+, on- street for dozens. Seats 50+ with ease. Lots of comfortable chairs and lounges scattered around. The place had about 15 locals for a Saturday brunch, which was a good sign, when 32 of us arrived unexpectedly. The staff reorganised the seating on the fly and we didn't feel crushed together.
The menu went the whole gamit from light snacks to the big boy breakfast which is truly huge. The food was fresh, hot, and country style portion sizes, while the staff kept the food coming in blocks of about 10 people at a time, with orders for seconds, some late arrivals and people who swapped table after ordering. The wait staff worked through everything in jig time, the rather large order arrived with no errors and smiles all around.
The cafe is family friendly, caters for kids as miniature adults, and has a few things to appeal to them. From memory, that included, iced chocolate, berry milkshakes and a caramel, honey milkshakes which got 5 out 5 from the small seat crowd. With adults, french toast with bananas and honey, various bacon creations, and a large selection of cakes hit the spot. And they're licensed, with a well stocked bar.
Prices were very reasonable, orders were quick to arrive and the staff made our visit a pleasure. Food selection, cooking and presentation were all A+. To thrive and grow in a country town means high standards and getting it right every single time or you won't get a ,2nd chance. These people look they're on top of their game.

Read moreAbsolutely AWFUL experience here with my 6 year old daughter. Sat and ordered breakfast and coffee, hot chocolate with some marshmallows for little one. Young waitress seemed lovely. But drinks order was delivered by Kate herself, who placed a takeaway cup down, said that was the hot chocolate for my girl (no marshmallows) and a takeaway cup was given and I quote Kate directly - "to save my cups". We were watched by Kate, probably to make sure my kid didnt ruin her entire (almost empty at the time) establishment. Don't come here with kids! I might add I've been to Kate Jones before without my girl, all dressed up, "polite fancy citizens style" and was treated very respectly and sweetly. Need I say more. Never spending hard earned money here again and instead supporting small businesses in Orange who didn't bat an eyelid about serving my 6 year old without rude comments. Which seems to be everywhere......
