We came out to Orange for a long weekend visit to unwind and visit some wineries. We stayed 15 minutes out of town on a farm. We stuffed up our dinner plans one night and decided to go into town and have and old school Chinese meal.
We absolutely loved the premises, the décor, the food was absolutely superb and the service from the staff rivalled all the Michelin star places we’ve been to around the world. Too often these days the staff don’t check on the guest or ask if the food is to their liking, it was pleasant to be asked and checked on throughout the meal which seems to not happen anymore unless you are spending over $500.
I strongly disagree with a lot of the other reviews for this place, I live a stones throw away from China Town in Sydney and although some of the best and most authentic Chinese food can be found right where I live, my wife and I are unable to find what we call “old school Australian Chinese food”. This style of food seems to have disappeared from most parts of Sydney decades ago.
On the menu they had more traditional Chinese dishes, but as soon as we saw the photos of some of the more “westernised” dishes online, we knew we had to come here to try the old favourites like the crispy beef, lemon chicken and satay chicken. Absolutely superb, it was exactly what we were hoping for, quite literally some of the best “Australian Chinese dishes” we’ve had in years.
From the welcome door bell to the fake fish in the fish tank, to the dishes that held the food to the cook and the wait staff, my wife and I absolutely loved it all, there was nothing we could fault.
Every time we go past or to Orange, we will definitely make a detour to the New Golden Bowl Chinese Restaurant every time.
I wish you the best success as this place...
Read moreWarning!! Do not order food from here! My food was off and un-edible I put some on a plate smelt it and immediately called back to request a refund. I was told that I need to request this through menu log as they apparently didn't receive the payment from them yet.
After requesting my refund and emailing menu log all week back and forth I was told I would receive a partial refund and not the full amount. I was disgusted so decide to go in to the establishment myself and request a refund as I have every right to receive a full refund after the food was sent back and not eaten!
I was then told at the door by the last working that she needs a manager to refund my money. Then after speaking for another 5 minutes said I can only refund you $15 as 'MY' Driver was send out 3 times. WELL if the food was right the first time he would of only came out once wouldn't he!!!
I was then told she needed to call menu log which I waited for half an hour on hold and told that yes I will receive a refund in full but it will take up to 5 working days (the shop owner still just giving me attitude like she was in the right??) When I gave the menu log phone operator my number I was facing the shop owner and she quickly wrote my number down and tried to hide it. I asked her why and please to not record my number for my own privacy. She said 'please'
After I said I am aware of my rights there was no response I left reminding her that this kind of service is unacceptable.
The food was off. Appalling customer service and privacy breach all in one.
Stay away from this place...
Read moreOh man this place is the business! I went here the other night with my lady friend specifically for the deep dried ice cream. And oh my goodness it did not disappoint. The moment we walked in the the door, only to be greeted by a statue of bumblebee, I knew we were on to a winner. Led lights adorned the exterior, interior and probably the bathrooms. Done in a tasteful fashion mind you. There was a huge chinese dragon slithering down ceiling! We were greeted by the most friendly humans to ever grace the earth and promptly given prawn crackers. I often wonder how many prawns to a cracker... I don't think anyone will ever know. Anyway I digress, we ordered deep fried ice cream and the banana fritter. The ice cream was perfection. A crispy coconut batter presented itself with a perfect serving of caramel sauce. It came out rapidly to. Each bite reinforced the tremendous decision to come here just for this product. I was in heaven. The banana fritter came out a bit after and did not have the same zing unfortunately. My recommendation is to use the same batter for the banana as the ice cream. Anyway upon leaving I commented on the bumblebee statue and was immediately given the grand tour compete with wearing the mask and shown, via remote control the various functions. Wow,...
