Cafe Mazz — Restaurant in Pemberton

I came to work and eat here but the staff were initially very rude with me. I asked if I could move the table to be closer to the PowerPoint and as I was doing so other staff asked me what I was doing and demanded me to stop. I set up waiting for the menu to be brought to me so I could order. 20 minutes later a staff member said “are you going to order or not?”. How can I without a menu, she pointed at a stack of menus at the cash register… maybe bring me one then? I ordered tea initially and a burger later and both were very satisfactory. Some of the staff members were nice like the young boy and the older male. Yet the rest of the staff made me feel very unwelcome and when I asked to use the toilet the female staff with a bob cut and glasses stared at me like I asked her to give me money. Later after I ordered the burger (I had always planned to eat there) the first rude staff member became nicer but still. Treat everyone with respect. I felt more comfortable outside in the cold rather than inside with staff members...

NOT RECOMMENDED! Had very bad experience. The staff saw me at the counter and refused to serve me, calling for another staff to help me order. They talked behind my back saying something about my “ASIAN ACCENT” with the other staff. Excuse me? Big flag for RACISM. SHAME ON U. Later when the food came, it was sent to another table - they came and ordered after us. We saw the staff take the burger and fish we ordered back to the other table, while the customers said the burger wasn’t their order but the fish was. The staff took the burger back to the kitchen and sent it out to our table after 5 mins. NEVER WILL COME...

Whilst the food here is ok, it's nothing spectacular given the prices. There is usually a wait of 45 minutes for food, it gets a lot of travellers here with little other choice in this town, which is disappointing given its popularity. The venue is very nice, romantic and with rustic charm. But I can't help but think that prices are out of control with pubs these days. Bar service is always pleasant. Staff are good. Owner must be making a motza. (psstt......give something...
