Avoid it. Winners certificates all over the walls. Winner of what? Worst pies? They are extremely basic at best. The place is falling apart with rude staff.
Edit: After receiving the below response from the owner asking for my phone number and postal address for some reason, I decided to read the below reviews as well. Looks like they all come for the same reason: If you are unlucky enough to go to this place when the owner is there. Expect to be treated badly. Owner completely incapable of taking constructive criticism. Responds to all negative reviews blaming the customers who all have very valid points.
People giving 5 stars must be going when she isn't there. I'd like to know why they want my details, going to give me a refund? I'll call the store and find out, then maybe update here in my review.
Also, you're right I forgot to mention some things in my little rant. Free wi-fi: not relevant in this day and age where everyone has fast internet they can hotspot off their phone. Even if they didn't its a bakery, not an internet café. Bad pies + free wi-fi does not equal 5 star review. Free sauce: Was made to pay 30c for the sauce And I forgot to mention the coffee, was literally undrinkable. Somehow burnt despite being cold, tasted old, and had grinds all through it.
P.s. I admit the condition of the building is not relevant. It can be very expensive to run a business and sometimes the owners choose to focus on quality product instead of the building itself. And I've been to places that were in way worse shape, but as long as they are clean, it should matter. Unfortunately this wasn't one of those places. Neglected from...
Read moreSteak and kidney pie was absolutely sensational. Staff were just as lovely.
Edit: came back after a few years and oh boy did I miss these pies. Luckily this time we came back for 2 weeks so got a chance to try about half the selection on offer and everything was amazing every single time. I normally just stick to my steak and kidney pies but after my last experience here had to give a few more things a go, and I'm so glad I did.. their potato pie with bacon on top is just crazy good and I swear the thing weighs a kilo. Pretty devastated that we came on the bus with very very full bags or I would have taken a tray of these things home with me and hoarded/rationed them in the freezer. Absolute best pies I've had, there's a couple of bakeries in my surrounding suburbs that are pretty good, but nothing in comparison to here. So wish I could come here more often. The staff are all amazing. We will definitely be back, even if it takes a few years.
Also, the people who gave this place 1 star sound like troublesome people, I'd pay them no mind.
There'd be more pictures but the food is too damn...
Read moreIt's a bakery. In the country. It's a Country Bakery, with awards! Like all bakeries found in the countryside, there is a rustic appeal in the decor and a general dissatisfaction with serving low carb pastries or weak pies.
We bought a ton of stuff in the first order. And then double of everything we REALLY liked before getting back on the road. There's a bunch of pictures, the highlight of which was the Caramel Eclair. You definitely shouldn't be buying those they're awful. Awful bloody good. I ate two and then saw the look of disgust on my wife's face as I reached for hers.
Needless to say, this was a lovely break in a delightful drive through the big trees via very windy roads. Appropriately staffed with local talent discussing the ins and outs of last night's conquests. It's nice to hear there's still a bit of debauchery going on around the countryside.
I digress. The pepper steak pie was excellent. If only I hadn't filled up on eclairs, I might have had it sooner. Oh...
