Josper Grilled Hiramasa King Fish Cacciatore was grilled well. 😋. A lemon would have been a good option to have on a plate in case I needed a squeeze. The passata was rich and dense and tasty. Then smashed potato was filling, accompanied by kalamata olives, and fresh herbs... The plate looked good on the presentation and got me salivating. As a first timer at Del Giornos, it was definitely a good first impression. The service was great, professionally done at 5 star standards, but it can be better. The wait staff were very courteous, patient helpful, and a bit reserved. That made it a more comfortable experience, differentiating them from the ordinary cheeky and cheesy bar restaurant wait staff that are common in most places. No wonder this place attracts an upper-class and trendy crowd. I was happy to leave a 10% gratuity. I also tried their chai latte, extra strong, medium size. It was sheer bliss sipping it... perfectly balanced! I am very particular with how my chai latte is made and served, I can be petty like that, yes. I was impressed. I did not need to think twice about enjoying it. If you would like a good classy dinner in Port Lincoln, with views of the ocean, Del Giornos is your place to be. It has the appeal of a high life, classy Italian restaurant. Without digging for its history, just from a quick glance of their menu, I got a sense of a Mediterranean-Japanese fusion of seafood. I would definitely put it in the same class as @La'Anse French Cafe in town. They are at the top of their game and are not leaving anything to chance. The Marina at the wharf may be gliding on age-old goodwill, but lack a little bit of class that I find here at Del Giornos and La'Anse French Cafe. Thank you, Del Giornos. This tourist...
Read moreWhats going on? This establishment used to be good, now it seems to be existing on past glories. Last two visits after several months away have been anything but an enjoyable experience. We usually have the marinara pizza & coffees. My wife got a mussel that was not quite right the first time. This was conveyed to the young waitress quietly & discretely with no demands made for another pizza etc.. Result was info wasn't passed on to kitchen until the waitress was queried for feedback. The female barista at the time was informed?? who thought it was hilarious with losts of stares & smirks. Second visit resulted in 40 min wait for a pizza & lukewarm coffee delivered before food, contrary to order placed. Due to time constraints we had to get the pizza boxed for takeaway with replacement coffees the same. Suprise suprise..same barista made replacement coffes whilst staring holes in my wife & smirking at me. The pizza when opened was more an onion & cheese version with pastry more stretchable than the cheese. Coffee was purposely vile with both it & pizza going straight in the nearest bin. Think perhaps owner is being let down by certain staff with more input than they should. We have eaten all over the world & this experience stands out for all the...
Read moreFantastic service and divine food! All waitstaff were wonderful and injected personality into their service, making for a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The food service was also timed perfectly!
Between us we had the King Fish Crudo, Marinara, Tuna Steak and Battered Kingfish, which were all superb. The Tuna and Marinara in particular were stand-out dishes and come highly recommended. The Crudo was a perfect light starter to whet the appetite with delicate kingfish and gorgeous pink grapefruit, contrasted against the gentle heat of the horseradish cream. The Tuna was beautifully charred, accompanied by sweet cranberries and salty capers. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Marinara, packed with delicious seafood - each element cooked to perfection and exactly the right amount of heat.
We also ordered the Lemon Mousse Cake, Strawberry Tart and Lemon Tart for dessert and all were delicious, but also light enough that they could still be enjoyed in their entirety after finishing our mains.
It's quite simple, if you are visiting Port Lincoln, you NEED to go to...
