Great little find at the end of Hastings Street. Had a beautiful breakfast here during the week, popped in as it looked really popular which could only be good sign. Had a young teenage waitress serve us who we were very impressed with. Had great table manners, served us with a friendly smile, was super professional and on observation hard working.
The menu had lots of great dishes and drinks to choose from, there was Soo many I wanted to try. The prices were also reasonable for Hastings Street in comparison to other cafes that weren't as nice or have desirable menu options.
Our table ordered a coffee, which not only looked visually appealing but was made beautifully, a fresh juice which definitely hit the spot and 2 hot breakfasts.
I ordered the XO Eggs ($24.00) Folded Eggs sauteed mushrooms, Sambal, Spring Onions, Crispy Shallots and sourdough. This dish was not what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised. Nicely plated, great flavours and fresh ingredients. The dried shallots and other garnishes on the egg including the little "kick" from spices used gave me a Japanese inspired vibe. Overall really tasty and a nice change on the traditional breakfast eggs.
My partner ordered the Godfather ($30.00) Eggs your way, bacon, grilled chorizo, hash browns, roast tomatoes, mushrooms, house relish accompanied with Sourdough toast.
Very generous portion size, nicely plated, fresh ingredients and full of flavour.
I would definitely recommend this cafe if you like a diverse menu and some twists on your...
Read moreWent for breakfast here with my family. This restaurant is dirty! We were asked to take a table at the back. The table was not wiped down. I asked who I believe is the owner or manager to wipe it down. He did, while we were seated-crumbs landing on my lap. The walls were sticky with food particles stuck as well as dead little spiders/bugs. Without saying more about the unacceptable cleanliness, you can guess the state of the floor. Please keep in mind this was morning. Do they not do daily cleaning?!?! During our meal my daughter showed me her glass with food stuck to the inside of the glass. I’m starting to sound like a negative Nancy but I want people to know what to expect. Food was below average. My teenager who loves Omelettes and who is far from picky kept apologizing telling me she could not finish it- it was that bad. She asked I give it a taste, but I trusted her judgement. Açaí bowl was super sweet sorbet like mass with little fruit. My youngest said the waffle was ok. The veggie salad which was gluten free was not bad- we added smoked salmon to make it substantial. The price was hefty for the quality of the food and the cleanliness issue. My tip is if you want to know how clean the kitchen is, check out the restrooms. In this case, no need to peek into the restroom ...just look around you. We were on Holiday, but I would not return, even...
Read moreBooked this cafe based on the menu on their website which looked really yummy with lots of salads, burgers, prawn dishes, sashimi etc. Once we were seated, we were looking at a totally different menu of more of the classic Italian vibe. I was told that was an old menu on their site from their sister cafe that has since closed down during Covid. Quite disappointed but nonetheless we stayed to eat. Our waiter was attentive and helpful in the beginning but then just left us to our own devices as soon as our mains hit our table... No one came to check-in on how are meals were, more drinks or even getting us more tap water. We even ended up clearing our own table onto another table. We were sitting on the rooftop terrace and were just forgotten about. As well as that, myself and my Dad had the same prawn main, I received 6 prawns and he got 9 - very inconsistent! Place lacks cohesion and consistency which is a shame because it is a nice little location on...
