I’ve been a loyal customer of 250g since 2021 but after the experience I had tonight I will never be returning. First of all the live music took up the entire indoor part of the restaurant and reduced seating capacity. It was so loud we couldn’t hold a conversation at our table. It also changed the atmosphere of the restaurant to a more rowdy bar atmosphere which was not at all family friendly. Then our waitress (who was obviously a recent arrival) tried to tell us that my 19 year old couldn’t order alcohol as the restaurant didn’t serve alcohol to under 21’s. Not sure where she is from, but maybe she should learn the local liquor laws. We then moved tables once one became available to have less noise as we had 2 guests who were very sensitive to noise. Danny, a front of house staff member came over to tell us we couldn’t sit there as the table was reserved for some regulars who come ‘3 times a week with ‘dogo”s’. I tried to tell him that we were noise sensitive and could he please make an exception as the table next to us was the same. But he proceeded to argue and become very aggressive toward myself and my daughters and guest from overseas. He told me that I was being unreasonable and was acting like I was more important than everyone else. He made quite an uncomfortable scene in front of other customers which was very embarrassing for us and our guest who was shocked at the appalling service. We decided to leave the restaurant without eating. Nonetheless, we weren’t missing much as recently the pizza and salads are ok but the pasta is undercooked and tasteless. It’s not worth the money and certainly not the same standard of years gone by. The highlight has always been ‘Al’ the exceptional front of house manager who couldn’t be more welcoming. How does”Danny” even have a job here. The 2 are...
Read moreLet me clear that it is with much consideration I write this review, preferring to always be a supporter of local small biz. I have been to 250 Grammi multiple times over a 2.5 year period.
Exec summary of review: rigid and unreasonable no changes policy.
Let me explain: for our weekly pizza date we both enjoy a capriciosa pizza just my half no ham. Do you think they allow this negligible modification? Staunchly no. So their pizza chef is not allowed a slight of hand to sprinkle ham up down on half the pizza instead of a circle around the whole base 🤷♀️
Therefore I spend the meal mangling up my pizza and end up eating base with tomato and a few olives and artichokes on the side - the cheese taken off with the ham.
What makes even less sense is if they did half ham they are using less of the expensive ham and get to charge same price. I’d even prefer we pay $2 extra for the privilege of a half half.
And to top it off we go at 5pm when it’s quiet and chefs are standing around waiting for the rush.
Management’s solution is to a) order a vego pizza - which would be my preference but do you think they offer a vego capriciosa? Or b) option is get the ham on the side. Please explain, management, how this is less complicated for your staff? More dishes to wash and more for wait staff to carry and extra clutter for the table.
Having worked in hospo many years I get that modifications can get onerous to a busy venue. But hard line policies with zero flex with people who are clearly locals before the rush is just not good hospitality.
Overall the pizzas aren’t worth the bad mood it puts me in. There are a number of other pizza joints around town doing an excellent pizza and who love giving us half ham. We just like spreading business around and have given 250 Grammi a number of...
Read more*I contacted the restaurant directly but received no reply. Pls note that we were not made aware of any booking on our table when this table was assigned to us by the waiter, my kids were super well behaved (9&12 yr old girls), we laughed off errors from the waiters because life aint perfect. But in the end got treated like we were a bother to get out of the way.
My family of four had a great dining experience at this establishment last night. Dining out is a luxury for my family, and when we do, we support local.
We were seated outside on the street side and really enjoyed all the food and attentive service. We were left a bit bewildered when after requesting dessert menus and still finishing my drink, we were asked to vacate our table for someone that booked, and go sit at the back of the restaurant at a high table. This whilst walk-in diners were seated next to us at an identical table just minutes before?
Unfortunately, as you can imagine, this really spoilt the evening and we decided to pay our $150 bill and leave.
I do not believe any customer should be treated in this manner. And a reply when contacting an establishment would have been appropriate.
I think other good establishments are available and worthy of patronage. So we will not be returning, and I do not recommend this...
