Thai for friends — Restaurant in Queensland

We arrived in Nossa staying in James street. We were not in the mood for dining. We walked past numerous restaurants on Gympie Tce. We found this restaurant up a side street not expecting anything special. We ordered the duck with the vegetables and a chicken pad Thai. Pretty ordinary meals and we have had some nice dishes with the same ingredients. Well were We happy with our meals. Perfectly cooked duck and the flavors were spot on in both dishes. My only complaint is that we should have returned as we tried about 7 restaurants while we stayed (most were more expensive) and this place just does things right. It really stood out. Very casual place and we were served by a delightful young waitress. One thing we noticed about all the restaurants is that they don't really have very much heating. We come from a cooler climate and have more warmer restaurants. But this was pretty much the norm here with not many restaurants having many heaters. Absolutely hopeless, we booked a table for 615pm, but got there earlier at 6pm, we were shown to our table then forgotten. For starters we had to get the menus ourselves, finally ordered our drinks, had to ask twice for them to come, waited an hour for no food, had to ask when food would arrive, no response, went up again to ask for at least our entree as we had young children to feed. Entree was thrown on the table along with our drinks. Ordered another drink and asked for the bowl of steamed rice we had ordered, Took 20 minutes and a reminder to get it. 100 minutes since we sat down and still no main meals or explanation why. Unfortunately this appeared to be the case for all the tables. We cancelled our order and left. One thing that stood out was that the takeaways were being served and filled before the tables. One waitress was run off her feet but the other one was quite rude and indifferent. Certainly would not recommend unless you are...

Oh what an aweful experience. My friends who have supported this humble restaurant since they opened their doors invited us for a quick catch up with them at Thai for friends. It was a disaster from the word go. Service by 2 inattentive staff members and a young child. My chicken stir fried in Basil was tasteless and cold. Husband chargrilled beef meal was extremely dry and the sticky rice was hard. Duck dish was passable to a degree. The Aussie owner was extremely rude when my friend called him over politely to remind him that she requested NO Veggies in her Jungle curry. He was very inconsiderate and went as far as telling her Don’t push the button as his Thai wife just had a miscarriage and he doesn’t want to hear about it.
