Donut Frenchie - Jam Donut French Toast Yikes. Yeah. I think I’m 95% a savoury breakfast guy. This was an unusual pick and not one I’d recommend unless you’re at the complete other end of the sweet-savoury breakfast spectrum. French toast donut is different, but I guess it’s different for a reason. Really I’m a bit confused by the mix of elements. Pros? - The floral garnishes were actually pleasant and very flavourful. But… the orange for the flavour and texture, seemed out of place. As did the jam filling with the ice-cream. As did a donut the size, shape and for the most part, consistency of a pancake. I’d just prefer some quality normal donuts with the ice-cream and fresh fruit. The mid morning Sunday vibe is certainly different to that of an early weekday, but it seemed like a nice space. I did not regret the return for the Slow-Braised Sugo Chickpeas. The balance of textures that this slice of very well toasted bread brought was just so well appreciated. Especially when combined with the tad bit of firmness that remained in the chickpeas and the almost creamy sugo. The zucchini added a good and necessary freshness to the side. All round each part of the dish felt well proportioned. A friendly vibe and a nice neighbourhood feel to the location, not that central though, and it only opens at 7:07am. For me, it’s a go if you got plenty time to stay or a swing through for takeaway if it’s on the way.

I've only been to Burrow three times since it opened about three years ago. It has been remarkably consistent in that time. The food menu always looks interesting. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his Hong Kong eggs (chilli) this morning and praised it for being a little bit different to the regular breakfasts. My All Vego was a little bit ordinary, if cooked well and with nice ingredients. Coffee is very good. Environment is lovely, and dog friendly too which is why we went there today. Across these three years the service of wait staff has always been great, but the kitchen service to get food out has always been slow. I've had two breakfasts and one lunch meal here and had to wait close to an hour to get breakfast on both of those occasions. We haven't minded waiting on those occasions, but the slowness seems to be consistent, and seems odd when there are plenty of staff available and some empty tables. Regardless, they're lovely people, food and coffee are good, and the atmosphere is lovely inside and out.

We found this lovely café by accident while driving by. We did a quick U-turn and lobbed in for brunch. The waitress was charming and helpful, the atmosphere friendly and welcoming, and we settled in. Hubby and I both chose the same dish (which was in its last week due to a menu change) – La Galette, a delicious buckwheat crepe stuffed with ham, Gruyere and mushrooms, and topped with a fried egg. The egg was a bit overdone for our tastes (I like ‘em soft and runny), but we both loved the crepe. Tangy and tasty with a crisp outside and soft inside. The ham was generous and had a lovely flavour (the waitress said it was smoked locally). The greens were very fresh, the cheese was melty, and all up this was a fabulous brunch dish. This café is dog-friendly, and people-friendly! There is a courtyard out back, and room inside to sit and relax. We will definitely be back on our next trip...
