Very disappointed. We had a table for two at the end of the deck with beautiful views, but unfortunately, the brand-new roof was leaking, causing water to drip onto my head and shoulders. We had to move the table ourselves to avoid getting wet, and I noticed another table experiencing the same issue, with water dripping from the downlight above them. After placing our drink order, the wine arrived promptly, but the cocktail took much longer. When it did arrive, the Blue Breeze cocktail looked great but was mostly just pieces of ice jammed into the glass tumbler, which was disappointing. When ordering our meals, we decided on our entrees, and for mains, we chose pasta and steak, along with a side of cheesy bread. The bread arrived first, before the entrees. We pointed out the mistake to the waitress, who took the bread away. However, the bread was later returned with the explanation that the kitchen had not made any mistake, as the original order didn’t clarify that the bread was a side to the mains. By the time the bread was returned, it was cold, and we refused to pay for it. The quality of the food was below expectations. The bruschetta came with burnt, old bread and far too much tomato with no other discernible flavors. The scallops were raw and cold. As for the mains, my husband ordered the bug and crab linguine. He took only a few mouthfuls, saying it tasted like cold, canned spaghetti with tin crab. I thought I could rely on the steak, but it was a letdown. I was given a butter knife instead of a steak knife, and when my husband brought me the correct knife, I found that the steak was cooked rare, bordering on blue, despite ordering medium-rare. The broccoli was cold and hard, and while the potato galette had a delicious top, the center was cold. The only saving grace was the creamy white wine sauce and three prawns, which were cooked perfectly. The service throughout was lacking — the waitress didn’t acknowledge the issues with the meal, and we didn’t feel the need to bring up the poor food quality with the person handling the bill, as we didn’t expect any resolution. We really hope the kitchen and management take this feedback seriously and implement changes to avoid these issues for future guests. Unfortunately, given this experience, we won’t...
Read moreI love the new renovation, though it’s lacking character, just a big open space and alot of tables. It could really do with some sort of decorating, it has a very stark feel.
Food was average and a long wait time despite the restaurant not being even half-filled. The service staff were nice and really attentive however.
I don’t think I’ll go back there for dinner again, probably just breakfast. We got a pork bites entree that was very average, a small handful of pork pieces on a little handful of supermarket bag salad, the fat had barely been cooked, not golden or crispy and were luke warm.
My husband ordered a medium rare steak, which was overcooked. I ordered the gnocci which was fine, but nothing to rave about and overpriced for the size of the dish I feel.
We decided not to get dessert given how mediocre dinner was.
I had a long island iced tea cocktail that was 90% softdrink. I then ordered a pinot noir and the first glass I received was like vinegar and off. The waitress brought me a glass from a new bottle which was much better.
Overall, service staff great, food very average for the price and not worth it. No atmosphere for dinner, I think they’re relying far too heavily on just the view, which isn’t going to cut it when you’re in competition with Ardo now.
They need to liven the place up with sparkling lights, greenery, candles, something. I think the music could be improved too, it was just a 90’s playlist. Play something a bit more atmospheric guys, less pub, more chic seaside restaurant!
For the money, I’d honestly rather just pay slightly more and go to a touch of salt for dinner, and save cbar for coffee and bacon by the sea.
I hope they get a better chef, more staff in the kitchen, decorate a bit more, improve the atmosphere, and maybe...
Read moreMy boyfriend & I picked here to have our last dinner for our holiday in Townsville. So very glad we did ! 10/10 dinning experience all round. Earlier in the afternoon my boyfriend had called in to reserve a table & was informed by the service staff that reservations were done online through their booking system but they would be more then happy to accomadate his request for a table via phone. We were very happy about that. When we got there the staff at the booking stand (didn't catch his name, but he was absolutely wonderful !) immediately told us "welcome back guys, thank you for coming back & choosing to dine here." Why this impressed us is because this man had seen / spoke to us all of 30 seconds 3 days before hand when we had originally tried to get a table but ended up leaving instead (only because the wait for food at the time was longer then we could manage having a little one with us) He had intracted and spoken to us once &remembered us , over 3 days & possibly hundreds of customers to welcome us back. We felt valued as customers before we had even sat down.. The girls who servered us were so cheerful & well informed of menu items. They even took my daughters cup and washed it up- which we thought was so sweet of them ! Every waiter & member of the crew were polite, hardworking & super attentive to every table. The food was absolutely DIVINE. We had the fish & chips & the crab & bug linguine. Compliments to the chef. We had the best table, right beside the water , with a gorgous view of the Strand & beach. When we come back to TSV, we will definitely be coming back to C bar. It was the best dinner, the best time, the best drinks & the best service we've had on holiday. Thank you to everyone at C bar for a...
