Strand Park — Attraction in North Ward

BEWARE SNAKE ON BESCH !! I come Townsville 4 daughters second wedding it was great until me and friend Glenn hired a scooter well I did not hire scooter but glen did. I went 4 walk Glenn went for scoot along beach path 9.00pm at night many people walking enjoying beach view. I ask man if I can swim in ocean he laughed and said no no walked off on me so I went 4 dip with my friend we came out itchy scratching so we had to pee on each other foot to stop scratching as that what Steve Irwin said on his tv show in early 2000s it helped we decided to keep walking and scooter ride along I had my walking frame minding buisness until I looked down 3 steps away from me I see 5 foot python on footpath I screen at Glenn stop snake we both yelled so loud all the stand heard us. It was big but snake. Until too big string marcho man Richard and his brother local ran to save us from being bitten by snake we would of stepped and ran over it very scary the two lovely strong men picked snake up threw it on sand and picked up my dentures that fell on path because I scream so loud they were cracked they walked us back to hotel and told us we would be fine of snake because it gone bow but told us to b careful of croc in ocean that can’t be found they told me not to swim in ocean again because of stingers they really helped me and Glenn lucky they came to out help I don’t know if we would be alive if it wasn’t for themmm. The next day the locals we came friends with ova snake took us to the mountain top local restaurants and we saw lights on mountain and had cheeky drink maybe 19 at the casino mine me very small casino. I now call them my brothers I invited them 2 my daughter wedding boy was scene made by her she didn’t not u dersrwbd they saved me and glen life they deserve incite to wedding and Townsville rsl for after party. We had good time in Townsville apart from ocean and snake boy is it hot there we are not used to it very sweaty we are Melbourne reservoirs boys. We glad we saw snake as we met strong nice friends that coming to Melbourne to visit us now. We will try get them move to Melbourne from Townsville. They showed us the brothel on magnetic island I had fun. I will come back Townsville one day I went to local agency to see what hokiday houses sell for to expensive so I did not brother with one coz I on pension income not enough to buy house there. One of Townsville’s greatest locations, this area is one of the main outdoor recreation areas of the city. Able to host major events it is also a great family location, with many playgrounds and a children's waterpark towards the eastern end. The area has clean and well presented parks with free bbq facilities (that are cleaned regularly) along the length of the foreshore. Access to the beaches is good and all year round swimming is possible as stinger nets are installed for the summer months. Beaches are patrolled by surf life savers Australia. People who aren't keen on open water swimming can make use of the rockpool at the western end or the Tobruk pool towards the eastern end near the waterpark. Limited access to public toilets can be a problem at times. You can access several cafes, restaurants and two public bars, the Seaview hotel and the hotel Allen. Those wanting to stay a little longer are catered for with several accommodation options available. The area hosts monthly markets, carols and the stable on the stand at Christmas time. The exceptional vibe of the strand is one you just cannot go without at least once a week. If possible even every day, as a relaxing walk along the strand, with the cool ocean breeze (even on a hot day), is beyond amazing. Most people smile or say hello and those that do not are usually the ones with ear buds, jogging the strand for the same reason you are there. Strand Park is no exception. The view of magnetic island, the relaxing atmosphere, those with their pet dogs who are also excited for a walk or run, close to the rockpool where you can go for a dip, the restaurants and cafes along the length, the playgrounds, it just really cannot be beat. If you are a visitor to Townsville, and you think there is not alot of people around, go to the strand, thats where we will be, for this one of a kind experience.
