We decided to have lunch here due to good advice that the food and ambiance was great however we were terribly disappointed.
Whilst the drinks and the food were delicious. The owner/ chef showed arrogance and lack of customer rapport or understanding.
To put into context. We ordered drinks and a baked Brie. We ordered at 1.20pm (as notified on our bank payment alert) and at 2pm we asked about it. The staff said they will find out. While this was happening others were receiving their main meals who ordered after us. We went up again at 2.15-2.20pm. At this time the owner (thank you to those who were there and pointed him out) walked out with the Brie and said ‘it takes along time it’s not deep fried; it’s baked. You’re not getting a refund you can get takeaway’ he then put the food on the front counter and walked away. He didn’t even care or want to care about the bigger picture as to why his customers were becoming a bit impatient for baked cheese.
From a great experience to being understandably disappointed due to slow ‘order to table’, to disgusting attitude and arrogance. That is the review we will give.
The staff were apologetic and mentioned their embarrassment of their boss/ owner.
We are very patient and warm people. To hear a person speak so rude to a customer and then to find out that they are the owner - we felt it needed to be said.
I can get great food in many places on our region - Service & people…. is what keeps people coming back.
I wouldn’t support or pay a place where I know an owner treats people with...
Read moreIt is obvious that there is an issue with communication and staffing. If you are looking for a meal in a normal restaurant time frame then you are better off avoiding. If you are prepared to wait, then by all means, sit back, relax and enjoy. I waited nearly an hour and a half for my lunch, it was becoming increasingly frustrating, naturally. Other customers were becoming agitated because of the timing. The chef come out, very apologetic and under stress, I felt bad for him but still annoyed (I think pretty normal under the circumstances). Compliments to the chef, because the food itself was good.. The whiting wasn't great (not chefs fault) and the chips under seasoned, however, the other food on the plate was fresh and nice (the octopus could be an entree of its own) and I am a huge fan of moreton bay bugs.. they were fresh and couldn't fault them along with the rest of the plate. Dish was presented by the chef, who seemed to really care about what he does. It may be a staffing issue (under staffed/inexperienced staff) but at the end of the day to wait nearly an hour and a half and pay over $120 it needs to be better. Other food that was coming out looked good as well as smell good. Food is not the issue here, its the customer service and timing. Staff were friendly. If you are looking for a meal in a hurry i would avoid, but if you have the time.. enjoy. To the team, please get some help, I know its not easy .. the concept and food is there but its obviously a little too much right now. Wishing you the best...
Read moreStopped in to town on our way home from Cairns, my husband had never been to Mission Beach. The road works a bad omen perhaps. Walked down following the signs to the beach and to find some lunch. Two options only. Charlie’s beach shack had a fab view and great vibe because of the amazing live music. We ordered, with lovely service from the young man. Drinks served quickly by a lovely friendly lady. We enjoy the music, honestly the man singing had a brilliant voice ! This distracted us at first, then we realised how much time had passed. No one was eating. At 45 minutes I went up to ask if our food was coming, we couldn’t understand as the place was not busy, why was it taking so long. At one hour my husband got his meal, they thought we were sharing. I informed the frazzled food server that I too had ordered a meal. 15 minutes later my meal arrived. No apology, just dumped in front of me by a crazed looking man. Thankfully the fish was cooked well and flavours nice. But the rotten herbs in the salad should have not been on the plate. Not good enough for the premium prices charged. I myself have been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years. I always am understanding, but this situation was so disappointing. Prime location, prime view, captivated market and this is not good enough for the town and the locals and visitors. There were so many staff, but no one seems to know how to run this ship. Go elsewhere, we hear the Bingal Bay cafe is the...
