Reasonable variety of different flavoured pies and other food types available here, as well as cold drinks and coffee. Located on the main road into cooktown. Quirky old building, service was reasonably fast and after a few days bush camping the food tasted good.

Great place to stop for a quick bite or takeaway. Lots of parking in convenient location in town. Awesome selection of pies, sandwiches and sweets to chose from.

Conveniently situated in a corner of the main road just on the edges is Cooktown.

SERVICE Old fashioned friendly service Prompt order taking

FOOD We only bought freshly sliced white bread and hamburger rolls. These were fresh and light.

COFFEE Strong wirh a slight bitter aftertaste Hot and a little too much froth that meant not a full cup of coffee

NOTE Morning is best, as their sweet slices, cakes and not box items are gone by...

A bakery who fails at lamingtons and meat pies. The pies looked and tasted like it was filled with horse lube, about the same temperture too. The lamingtons could be stuck together to make a cyclone proof structure. Very easy to see when a store just doesn't give a damn. Considering the hold temp of the lube pies, would be concerned about the safety of the food in general.... at least it will be...

I visited Cooktown Bakery on Saturday, 26th May. Something has gone wrong with this place it isn't at all what people have said to expect. Coffee isn't coffee it's just a cup of brown stuff. And the sausage roll I brought was the most basic and bland piece of something, truly odd! No wonder I saw locals eating at Rosie's Cafe...
