Mixed reviews on here, with the biggest issue being an older man with a rude attitude. Personally I didn't experience him and my young ladies were polite enough I had battered pollock and chips and gravy The pollack was quite a small fillet, but the batter was a bit too thick making it a bit greasy. It was also a minute or too overcooked so a little dry. Chips were nice and crispy but gravy was very salty Overall the fish was not very well cooked. It should be a light and crispy batter with moist, flaky interior flesh. This was thick and greasy batter and dry flesh. It's not easy to cook perfect fish and chips and the chef skills need a bit of development in this area though chips were good

Should be renamed Crooktown Cafe. Don’t waste your time or money here. The kids cheese burger and fries for $9.50 looked and tasted disgusting. The cheap meat patty was between two pieces of brown bread cut into round shapes then toasted. I thought it was a joke when we opened the box. My chicken salad for $8.50 had 5 small chicken bites in it. The salad chicken wraps was just about edible.

Got brekky. Wanted baked beans added and they forgot it. Smallest scrambled eggs and bit gooey. Tomatoes were 2 small quarters. Very disappointing. They need to put in effort and give customers their money worth $20+. But for a remote town it is was it is. Expensive and you get what you get and don't get upset.

This Cafe has the best food and are the kindest nicest people I've met in the whole town, especially one particular staff member who I think everyone knows as aunty . My son was injured in a car accident several weeks before I attended the Cafe which I went to specifically to find and thank this lady for her kindness and care. He was discharged from hospital ( with head injuries) and no local authorities helped him to contact family or let him make a phone call to get back to Cairns for the treatment he needed so he walked to this Cafe from the hospital asking for others help along the way and the only people willing to loan him a charger or make a call to call me was the people at this Cafe. I know that this is a review of the food and service but when I went there to retrieve his personal belongings from the car this lady was not there so please if you see this and know this lady please make sure she knows that I am so grateful for her kindness. Support this business for their great food and their kindness people and business like this are...

Awful service - rudest bloke I have met for a long time. Ended up walking out. The person that served us is in my view in the wrong business. He came across as stressed, rude and aggressive. Seemed to recent the tourists. Doesn’t seem to matter how polite you are. Give your money to someone else. This kind of service is only going to give the area a bad name. Can’t tell you what the food is like….. never got far enough to try it because of the attitude. Interesting reading the reviews now as it seems many others have had similar experiences. The pub over the road the sovereign is great - friendly staff - good food i would save your self the trouble of possibly being offended...
