I ate here about a year ago, I was with my wife and kids and decided to have brunch, called my sister and asked her and her husband if they would have brunch with us. I was in woolworths and purchased a iced coffee milk and walked across the road while drinking the iced coffee milk.
I hadn't quite finished my milk when I got to the shop, I went inside the Cafe with my iced coffee an sat down. Meanwhile my sister invited her daughters family. It took a while for us to order and get a meal, I had a cappuccino and a big breakfast and we had a nice family brunch, I don't remember if I thought it was good or bad, most likely it was OK.
You probably know where this is going. As they were collecting our dirty dishes a woman muttered under her breath about no outside food or drink in the Cafe, loud enough that several people heard it.
I saw the sign while entering the Cafe and if they had said no we will not serve you, I would have gladly then my Gathering somewhere else. But to wait till we had spent hundreds of dollars on food and drink and then complain about it afterwards, well, they made sure I would never visit their Cafe ever again.
I write this review now a year later because I went out for breakfast again this morning and every time I think about it. I think that I will never darken...
Read moreBad things come in 3's - I don't live locally so I purchased coffee here based on recommendations. I should have gone with my gut and walked out when it took (3) times waiting for the customer service team to do their job, serve the customer.
It took (3) of them fussing over some front counter fridge food before I could get through the awkward as heck first impression. Making the order was a lil painful, I thought it was my problem with the specifics for flavour, temp etc. Coffee chemistry. I enjoy nice coffee, I have worked as a barista and appreciate what it takes in the hospitality industry. When I took the first sip I knew I'd wasted $16 (strike 3). Where's the love? :( It tasted like hot almond milk without a care. I thought it would improve with time as it sat, it didn't. I couldn't toss it it was like envisioning pouring gold coins into a drain way and no way was I coming back to deal with those people at the front counter.
I get it you're closing at 3pm. It was only 2pm but it felt like everyone was just watching the clock. Hope my $16 bucks didn't go to the person who served me directly.
Loved the window and location/ 'street' view as a positive aspect...
Read moreThe hotel where I stayed recommended this place, I am now at odds whether I should have listened to their advise. The wait time was very long, they asked us to sit, so we sat, waited for quite a while, noone came to take the order, so I went up the counter to ask when we will be served, she said I should order at the counter... why couldn't you tell me this, why asking us to sit? I began ordering, the lady (waitress, in her 50-60 maybe) began writing my order, I stepped away to ask my son what drink he wanted, which was literally at most 10 seconds, I turn around - the lady was gone, and the new customer is standing there placing an order with another waitress. I line up in a cue, as by this stage more customers walked in. What a mess! The order took ages! I get it, they are busy, but could prioritise is given the troubles we had to endure already.
The food was just ok, nothing extraordinary, coffe was nothing special. I don't know the town that well, but perhaps this place was suggested by overall town's standards, perhaps others are much worse...
All in all the time spent witing around was about an hour.
Id probably get Mecca's next time...
