The low rating was due to one staff member who appeared to have some problem with us. When entering, we were asked if we were vaccinated and to check in using the app, which we did. We were then told to walk through to the eating area and would be given a table. The next staff member again asked if we had checked in and I got out the phone to show the check-in app. It clearly showed that myself and my husband were checked in - 2 people. I went and checked in again, just to prove it. But she kept asking if we had all checked in, and again said we all had to check in. I got confused and asked if our daughter had to check in, because I'd never had to check in a young child before. She said no, just adults. So again I showed the 2 people checked in on the app and she said 'where does it have the other person?'. I was really confused because it clearly showed myself checked in, and that I had checked in one other, and showed his name. The whole conversation was odd. I thought that it shouldn't have been a big deal and that working at a restaurant she should be used to how to read the check in app on a customer's phone. It was also embarrassing because all the other patrons were looking at us as if we'd done something wrong. We would have left then but had promised our daughter all day that we were going there to eat. Anyway another staff member stepped in and we got our table, and the staff member who took our order was very lovely, couldn't fault her service. But then we noticed that the entire time we were there (about 90 mins), not one other customer was asked to show proof of check in on their phone when entering the eating area. Why were we treated so differently? Only thing we could think of is racial profiling. Won't be going back and any other POC's should also avoid this place. Just because there are POC staff there, doesn't mean there isn't discrimination in the staff team.
Otherwise, the food was good, and we thought it...
Read moreGot stuck in the side room which also functions as the kitchen (behind a veneer) so for most of the meal we were breathing in disgusting smoke and smells. No music or atmosphere, just a very loud kitchen; you couldn't help not having to overhear their very loud crude conversation. Asked to move once a table became available in the main room (which is quite nice with music and a bit more atmospheric). Ordered, my pizza came out about 15 mins before my partner's Würst & spätzle. Not the end of the world, but you'd think one of the many front of house who walked past would have picked up on the fact that we were sat there with only one meal for that long. Thanks to the kitchen hand (bloke with the long hair) for realising (only helpful staff member). Pizza was pretty average, spätzle was nice. Found chicken on my pizza (capricciosa) which was pretty disappointing. Told the manager when he asked how everything was and he said he'd pass it on - nothing in the way of an apology though. This is the only time we were asked how the meal was - though other tables seemed to have some more attention. As we were finishing our meal we finally got moved to the main dining hall (there had been empty tables for quite a while at this point - one of which was the one that we were finally moved to). I say "moved" we had to move all our plates, glasses and tableware ourselves. We weren't asked if we would like desert or at any point if we'd like another drink which was a bit disheartening, our plates were just taken and we were expected to head up to the counter to pay.
Not the worst meal we've had, we just think the kitchen & FOH could do with a bit of direction. It's a lovely premises but the service and food...
Read moreWe were so excited to go but unfortunately came away disappointed.
Firstly they were closed on a Tuesday and we couldn't book online which was not really a big deal. We rang to book a table and to advise them of an assistance animal, which they were unsure of but decided it was okay. When we arrived, we were put outside in the pet friendly area but requested to be inside which we had confirmed over the phone. We were then placed in the side room, completely away from the other guests and right next to the kitchen which was too hot and loud to be comfortable. We asked to be moved but again they needed to check that it was "legal". Finally we were seated with the other guests in the main dining area. The waiter was nice to us while the manager stepped over our assistance animal, who was laying out of the way, because she was too lazy (and disrespectful) to walk around the table to give us fresh cutlery. This could have ended badly for her or our animal.
The food wait times were reasonable however the food itself was not of a restaurant quality in my opinion and more in line with a cafe. The pizza base was beautiful but the processed ham on the capricciosa was not. The toppings were generous though. The beef croquettes were okay however I have seen similar cheese sauce froma jar. The bratwurst was okay too but we haven't had spaetzle before so could really comment on it except to say that where was the garnish or side? I couldn't finish the (award winning) pizza and we didn't stick around for dessert.
The Italian/swiss decor and memorabilia was a stand out however having some top 40 music station on kinda killed the vibe.
Perhaps worth a look but don't get...
