Pete's Place — Restaurant in Queensland

We were served by an extremely rude lady. Tables were absolutely filthy and sticky. Ordered, had to repeat order 3 times because she was texting at the same time as serving us. When we got our order we went back to get chicken salt put on, as none was - even tho we ordered it, she turned her back on me and continued to text until I interrupted her’ to ask for it. I paid for tartare sauce along with ice creams for later. After we semi ate the disaster of food we received, I went back in to get my kids ice creams only to have to wait, 10 minutes while she had a lovey conversation with her friend. The friend said for her to serve me and her response was ‘oh they can wait’. Even tho it had already been paid for. Another customer begun to stick up for me, we were then both called crazy and were being verbally abused by both the cook and the lady serving for apparently being rude to the staff, asking her to get my already paid for icecream for my children who were becoming restless. If you wish to not ‘serve’ people, you are working in the wrong industry!!! The customer who stood up for me was then made to wait 15 minutes for her order even though there were no other customers in the shop!!!!! We left and she was still waiting. Will never return to Pete’s Place and as a local it’s sad that we cannot even recommend it to...

I had high hopes but was severely disappointed! Bear in mind while reading this that I have worked in a very popular Fish and Chippery in the Whitsundays up until recently.

Firstly, the only person serving customers was on her phone texting and didn't put it down until she finished typing to serve the 3 customers waiting. I wanted to get some fish and chips after being at the beach for the day. I was absolutely starving, and when I asked I could get some fish and chips, she said which one, I asked for a piece of Barra (one of only 2 choices) then she said we don't have that - now why wouldn't she have just said from the start " for fish today we only have Spanish Mackerel is that ok?" She was very rude and mumbling when she was talking. Didn't ask if I wanted sauce, which I had to go back and buy separately, $1 for a tiny drop of tomato sauce! Apparently they didn't have any tartare sauce that day either! Is this even a fish and chip shop!

Fish was awful, super tough. I actually couldn't even bite through it. It was that rubbery. I had to rip big chunks off and eat it very ungracefully. Chips were just as bad and threw most of them in the bin. $17.28 +$1, for the smallest serve too!...

As a local, this place used to be amazing. Today was very disappointing. I felt sorry for the young guy serving who tried his best to offer good customer service. He even admitted that there had been several complaints about the quality of the food...The chips were cold and soggy unlike all the other times I've been there when they were always some of the best chips in Cairns. Plus it was very expensive for very ordinary and sub par takeaways, at $17.28 for a small piece of mackerel and a small amount of chips!! And to top it off, the battered fish I ordered came out crumbed. The price they charged was dearer than their billboard and when I asked why, they said that they put their prices up. Not acceptable! Actually it was all quite embarrassing because I had brought a friend along who had never been there and I had talked it up about how awesome it was..such a shame. This place used to be iconic. I will never set foot in...
