Relaxation and Style at Palm Cove
Palm Cove is one of those places that feels like it was designed for slowing down and enjoying life. The beach itself is absolutely beautiful, with soft sand, calm water, and rows of palm trees that make it feel like a picture postcard. Walking along the esplanade in the early morning or at sunset is pure magic, and there are plenty of spots to sit and take it all in. The beach has a relaxed, peaceful vibe compared to busier tourist areas, which makes it perfect for couples, families, or anyone who just wants to unwind.
Right across from the beach is a fantastic stretch of restaurants, cafes, and bars. The choices range from casual coffee spots and fish and chips to fine dining with ocean views. What I loved most is that you can enjoy a long relaxed meal while still being only steps from the sand. Many of the restaurants use local seafood and tropical produce, and the standard of food is excellent. Dinner under the fairy lights with the sound of the waves in the background is a highlight of any trip to Palm Cove.
Accommodation is also top notch. There are luxury resorts with lagoon style pools and day spas for those who want to be pampered, as well as more affordable self contained apartments and boutique hotels. Many of them are right on the esplanade, so you wake up with ocean views and can walk everywhere. The whole area is easygoing and safe, and it feels like everything has been designed with comfort and relaxation in mind.
What makes Palm Cove special is the combination of natural beauty and a touch of sophistication. You can spend the day swimming, kayaking, or just lounging on the beach, then in the evening enjoy cocktails and fine dining without having to travel anywhere. It is small enough to feel intimate but with enough variety to keep you entertained for days.
If you are looking for a beachside destination that mixes tropical charm with great food and accommodation, Palm Cove is hard to beat. It is the kind of place where you arrive planning to stay a night or two and end up wishing you had booked...

The Jetty is at one end of Williams Esplanade, where people come to fish. Not everyone is lucky enough to catch for a hearty meal. If so, they will have to pay for their meals at one or more of the restaurants around.
There is big blue sign board explaining the history of the jetty. It is more for keen recreational enthusiasts to fish here. In fact there is another blue sign board showing the various types of fish that frequent the water.
The wind can be fairly chilly, even though the sun may be smiling high above. Fluctuating weather is not good for your body.
Standing on the jetty surrounded by the vast body of the Pacific ocean water, I feel like I am on a different planet. I really miss my cruising on big liners; I miss the roaring sound of wind and waves!
It is a not a long wooden jetty, fenced on both sides, leaving some openings with steps going down close to the water. I check with a couple of the "fishermen" on one visit how their luck was, and their responses were far from positive.
I do not have much luck taking photos of the sunset. The sky has not been clear. I hope to hav3 better in the...
Read morePalm Cove Jetty is the perfect spot for a short, relaxing walk with stunning ocean views. Stretching out into the Coral Sea, it gives you a great vantage point to take in the coastline, with palm trees lining the shore and the mountains in the distance. It’s a great place to watch the fishermen casting their lines, spot some marine life, or just enjoy the gentle sound of the waves.
However, it gets seriously hot out there. With little to no shade, the sun reflects off the water and the concrete, making it feel even warmer. If you’re planning to visit, it’s best to go early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the peak heat. A hat, sunscreen, and a cold drink are absolute must-haves! Despite the heat, Palm Cove Jetty is a great little stop for a peaceful walk, a quick fishing session, or just taking in the view. Short, sweet, and scenic, just don’t forget...
