Disgusting food. Disgusting owner. Just ordered takeaway and paid $114 for 2 pizzas, lasagne special, caprese salad and antipasto misto that was $23 on its own.

My husband was given the order when he picked up and told “that’s everything” however when he got to our room, we noticed the focaccia bread was missing which was supposed to come with the antipasto.

When I rang the restaurant to let them know of the missing item, the owner was immediately defensive asking “well what do you want me to do about it lady?” He then proceeded to tell me that it was my husband’s fault as he left the bread (which was never given to him) behind. So rude!

I mentioned to him that I would like a refund for the missing item and that overall I was very disappointed with the antipasto - for the meats there were 2 tiny pieces of each meat (2 different salamis and prosciutto). The prosciutto was more of a brown colour and overall the antipasto was extremely stingy.

He put me on “hold” to speak to the kitchen, but being on hold just meant he held the phone and yelled into the kitchen so I could hear him saying “they’re complaining about everything!” We only mentioned 1 out of the 5 dishes we ordered. He would have hated to hear what we thought of the rest of the food if he was so upset about missing bread.

Owner has a massive chip on his shoulder asking questions like “do you know what prosciutto tastes like?” Yes - I do know what FRESH, good quality prosciutto tastes like - this was definitely not it.

Conclusion - we did not get a refund for our missing item. Although when I got off the phone my husband said he wasn’t surprised as he saw the way he was speaking to his staff while he waited for our food.

I look forward to the restaurant’s response as they couldn’t give a toss when I spoke to them...

Oh my gosh this place! Came here last night. Firstly, the views were beautiful. It is on the second floor of a building but it is easily accessible by walking up the stairs to the village area. We were pleasantly greeted by a friendly man at the door and guided to our table. The restaurant was constantly juggling with takeaway orders and dine in, but there isn't a long wait for food. Our waiter was extremely kind and sweet, and was always smiling which was so lovely. I didn't catch his name but my partner and I loved him! My partner had an aperol spritz was delicious, refreshing and perfect on a warm night. We started off food with a garlic pizza, and ooft that went down a treat. Next we shared a white base porcini pizza. It has mushrooms, mozerella and a few more things and it was delicious! We also shared a gnocchi that came with a beautiful rich red sauce, and parmesan on the side. We went all out and shared a nutella calzone, and if you like chocolate I highly recommend this! It is FILLED with nutella and comes with ice cream on the side. Absolutely delicious! There are plenty of vegetarian options, however they aren't labelled as such on the menu, so I just double checked that what I wanted was indeed vegetarian (ingredients were listed but I always like to be sure). There were also many vegan options! These are labelled as vegan option on the menu, so just have to ask for vegan cheese. Great to see that.

The serving sizes are incredible here, great value for money. The dining area is small but the views are great and the atmosphere is so nice. Such a cute little restaurant. Highly recommend coming here, it...

We were recommended here by a friend.

Pizza has quite good flavour. Base was a little soggy after a 3 min trip back home. It doesn't survive resting at all.

They also couldn't get the easiest part of making pizza right. Guys, you have to cut the thing, not half score it. It isn't difficult, even Domino's 16yo kids manage that part, yet somehow you stuff it up on all three pizzas.

Customer service was at best marginal. They seem completely unaware that they're in the hospitality industry and that it's all in the name - be hospitable. The guy who took the order was pretty good. The others, rude. If this was a different forum my language would be significantly less flattering.

Flavour wise the pizza is right up there with the best. Everything else wise, not by a long shot.

Reading the reviews after the fact, our experience seems to be pretty common.

Worse, the replies from the shop say they're learning nothing from the feedback.

Given Rattle and Hum literally next door do pizza that tastes almost as good, but cheaper and with outstanding customer service in comparison we won't be returning. The improvement in flavour just isn't substantial enough to make up for everything else.

I genuinely think 3 stars overall...

We visited because of the great reviews on TripAdvisor however were sadly disappointed overall. Similar to other average reviews, the pizza wasn’t cut properly, both were scarce on base sauce, the toppings and overall flavour is something you could make yourself at home (needed salt and pepper too) and it is quite pricey. The saving grace however was that the restaurant is vegan friendly with lovely cheese that melted well and the vegan chocolate mousse was quite tasty. After having trouble finding vegan friendly restaurants on The Esplanade it was nice to see Il Forno accommodated for this. Also the view and sea breeze was lovely, nice outdoor alfresco eating space and friendly, engaging wait staff. May return in the future due to it being vegan friendly but if you’re just after good pizza (with no dietary requirements) I’d probably suggest trying elsewhere.

Came past and ordered a meat lovers pizza to have there, personally I feel it was a little pricey. I have attached images below of the pizza, it appeared to be a little watery/greasy which can be seen in the second image. We were seated outside away from the cover and the table was covered in stuff from the trees above, I also attached a image of the seat as you can see it more on black background. I cleaned the table myself and noticed it was still dropping while we had our pizza so unfortunately was falling onto the pizza we were eating. I know it’s not the shops fault however did just want to mention it if you wanted to eat in. Personally for me I don’t think I would give it another go, it seems to be overrated for what it is.
